Ella German

edit

2x expanded and sourced (BLP) 5x expanded by Location (talk). Self nominated at 05:27, 12 June 2014 (UTC).

  • 5x expansion verified. New enough, long enough, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen in online sources. Hook ref verified and cited inline. QPQ done. I formatted the references and eliminated the long strings of unnecessary fields. I have a question about which page number should be put in footnote 3. There also seems to be a typo in this sentence: "German reported that she had received at least two marriage proposals to her relationship with Oswald". Do you mean "prior to her relationship with Oswald", or "during her relationship with Oswald"? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 00:17, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks for reviewing the article and making the updates. I updated reference 3 to indicate pages 102 to 131. Mailer's book is broken down into two volumes, each with seven or eight parts. I am unable to provide a single page since he devoted three or four chapters in volume 1, part 4 to discussing their relationship. I have also fixed the incomplete sentence to note that she received two proposals prior to meeting Oswald. Per your request on my talk page, I will also work on linking the article to Lee Harvey Oswald. I cannot guarantee that it will be accepted there because there is so much material to be found on nearly every aspect of Oswald's life. Thanks again! Location (talk) 01:28, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

  • OK, thanks for fixing the issues I raised. It's interesting that you know the exact page numbers for all the other Mailer refs, but not footnote 3. You might consider just making one ref, {{sfn|Mailer|2007|pp=102-131}}, for all of the cites. That won't hold up this nomination, though. Good to go. Yoninah (talk) 10:15, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Note 3 cites page 699 of Appendix 13 in the Warren Commission's report. Reference 3, Mailer pp. 102-131, supports the statement: "Ella German (born 1937) is a Jewish woman known for having a brief relationship with Lee Harvey Oswald after his defection to the Soviet Union in 1959." The various facts in that sentence (i.e. that she was born in 1937, that she was Jewish, that she was a woman, the length of the relationship with Oswald, and that Oswald defected to the Soviet Union in 1959) all appear on different pages within Mailer. Since all those facts are supported below the lede and because the lede has other citations, I suppose Mailer pp. 102-131 could be stricken from the lede. Location (talk) 15:25, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Removed cite. Yoninah (talk) 20:17, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
