• ... that Everett Peter Greenberg was a co-recipient of the 2015 Shaw Prize for his work in quorum sensing, a mechanism by which bacteria communicate with each other?

• Long and new enough, hook checks out. I'm concerned about close paraphrasing though. Take this paragraph from the article:

While he was a professor at Iowa, in 1994, he first introduced quorum sensing to describe the regulation of bacterial gene expression through population sensing. Before Greenberg's research, it wasn't generally accepted that bacteria could communicate with each other; each bacteria was considered as an individual cell that behave independently from other bacteria. However, his research describes the mechanism by which bacteria communicate with each other. His research clarified the molecular mechanisms that underlies quorum sensing and implications of these mechanisms in controlling bacterial physiology in case of infectious diseases.

Compare to these quotes from the sources:

• E. Peter Greenberg, elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2004, first introduced the term “quorum sensing” in 1994 to describe the regulation of bacterial gene expression by means of population sensing.
• Twenty years ago, the idea that bacteria communicate with each other was not widely accepted.
• Bonnie L Bassler and E Peter Greenberg pioneered research in quorum sensing and elucidated the molecular mechanisms underlying quorum sensing as well as the implications of these mechanisms in controlling bacterial physiology in the context of infectious diseases.
