Faye Flam
edit- that author and science journalist Faye Flam (pictured) has also published in Parade under the name of her cat, Higgs the Science Cat?
Created by OttRider (talk). Self nominated at 23:29, 1 July 2014 (UTC).
- The article is new. It is long enough. I am concerned about the copyright regarding the photos used in this article. All of them were uploaded by editor whose username is Fflam. This editor uploaded seven photos in about thirty minutes, while at least one or two of them can be found on internet websites with copyrighted content. If uploader is actually the person who is the subject of this article, then it is also impossible for her to take photo of herself, especially while sailing or flying in the non-gravity plane. I apologize if I am wrong here because I am not completely acquainted with copyright issues. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 14:02, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing this up - I should have thought of it myself. The article originally had other photos that I know to be copyright-clear, since they were uploaded by the photographer (who I know). These ones, uploaded by the subject, are obviously not self-portraits, and you're right to wonder if the rights are proper. She may well have the appropriate ownership rights, but that isn't documented.
- Here's what I propose: I've just reverted the article to a version using the photographer-released images that I know are clear; please consider the nomination with those in place. The photo to be listed with the DYK should be changed to File:Faye Flam 975-Cropped.jpg.
- Later I'll pursue the status of those other images and edit them into the article if and when their status is made clearer.
- Here is the nomination with the new image embedded:
- ALT1: ...that author and science journalist Faye Flam (pictured) has also published in Parade under the name of her cat, Higgs the Science Cat?
- And you found some dead links - Thanks. The source reorganized and broke links. Sigh. They're fixed.OttRider (talk) 01:52, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks OttRider. I am fine with your proposal and photo replacements and will continue the review shortly.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 07:08, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
- "pseudonym of her cat"? I maybe don't understand English well enough, but does hook mean that her cat has pseudonym and Ms. Flam used it to sign her posts in Parade?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 15:32, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, that's right. "Higgs the Science Cat" was listed as a columnist in Parade.
- How can a cat have pseudonym? The article does not mention word pseudonym. --Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:07, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
- ah, i see the confusion. the "of" in that sentence isn't possessive, it's indicative. But if its confusing, "under the name of her cat" works.
- Thanks. The hook is cited and interesting. Its not too long. Good to go for ALT1.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 23:26, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
