Frankie Ruiz

edit
  • ... that Frankie Ruiz, popularly known as the "Father of Salsa", never took singing classes?

5x expanded and sourced by Magiciandude (talk) and Caribbean H.Q. (talk). Nominated by Caribbean H.Q. (talk) at 22:08, 18 March 2016 (UTC).

  • 5x expansion (per 14th March). Taking use of autobiography in good faith for hook – not ideal to use such a text to this extent in a bio, but no policy problem identified in text. Hook is brief and interesting as salsa is normally a highly trained discipline. QPQ fulfilled and promoted. for main hook.
  • The Spanish Wikipedia seems to have some additional images that could used
  • A discography would also be useful.
  • "Despite being momentarily shocked at the audience" - what does this bit mean?
  • Some of the later material could be condensed – good articles should be more concise SFB 01:41, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
Hello and thanks for your review. The book in question is not an autobiography. It does contain several anecdotes from his wife, but it was not written by her nor by Frankie in life. The author is a third party that was somewhat close to the family during the final year of his life, the narrative is mostly told from his POV. The prose is still clunky, but MD already asked for a copyedit which hopefully manages to reduce its size. The images were not there when I began writting the new prose (it seems like they were uploaded in February), so I had not noticed them, thanks for catching that. - Caribbean~H.Q. 10:53, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
@Caribbean H.Q.: You are correct – I misread this as "Ruiz with Charles Ornelas" type book. Still, similar issues apply, as you say. All good to go on the DYK front. SFB 19:19, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
