Golden Spikes Award
edit- ... that the Golden Spikes Award is considered the most prestigious award in amateur baseball?
- ALT1:... that Bob Horner is the only player to achieve the Golden Spikes Award, the first overall Major League Baseball draft pick and Major League Baseball Rookie of the Year Award in the same year, doing so in 1978.
- ALT2:... that Alex Gordon won the 2005 Golden Spikes Award as a third baseman, but received a Gold Glove Award as a left fielder in 2011.
- Comment: Source for the hook fact can be found in refs 4 and 5. ALT 1 sources are refs 6–10 and ALT 2 are refs 11–13. This is only my second DYK nomination, therefore it is exempt from QPQ,. However, I reviewed a DYK nom anyways as a gesture of goodwill.
