- ... that 2022's Saint Omer, based on the murder trial of Fabienne Kabou, was the first feature film for director Alice Diop and actress Kayije Kagame, and only the second for actress Guslagie Malanda? Source: Kabou and Diop: "[Diop's] experiences sitting in that courtroom [of the Kabou trial] have morphed into 'Saint Omer', the documentarian's first venture into narrative features" NYT ("narrative feature film" is redundant and just meant to distinguish from her extensive documentary work). Kagame: "Kagame’s big-screen debut was a sensation" THR ("big-screen" is meant to distinguish from her short film projects). Malanda: "she had appeared in just one movie" THR (simple math!)
- ALT1: ... that in 2022's Saint Omer, Guslagie Malanda plays a character based on convicted murderer Fabienne Kabou, while Kayije Kagame plays a stand-in for director Alice Diop? Source: "The film’s two main characters, and their real-life cognates, are Black women. Like Rama, Diop was born in France to a Senegalese family; like Laurence, Kabou was born and raised in Senegal and came to France to attend university" TNY. Malanda/Kabou: "Malanda plays Laurence Coly, an immigrant from Senegal who killed her 1-year-old daughter by leaving her overnight on a beach. Far from a stereotype, Laurence is based on a real woman, Fabienne Kabou" Cut. Kagame/Diop: "Rama is not autobiographical, Diop said, a point reiterated by Kagame, the actress who portrays her. 'Alice always had this cautionary warning before everything, saying, "Rama is not me"', Kagame said through an interpreter during a video call. Equally, Kagame added, 'Of course, I think any artist is always putting so much of themselves in their creation. Rama is her and yet it is not her so that we can all project ourselves in Rama'. Indeed, Diop said that Rama’s gaze did allow her to 'process lots of very deep personal things'" NYT Many sources not currently cited for redundancy's sake (like O) say "stand-in" or similar unqualified.

- The articles are all in the unlikely range (from 3.8% to 22.5%). Although there is nothing to stop the nomination, it would not be bad to lessen the similarity of Kabou and Diop, which are both over 20% similarity. No pressure, but it would be nice.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 03:38, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Seems to be mostly quotations
- The articles cover the major content issues for the various subjects. Diop and Kagame both have a number of redlinks. Are we expecting new articles for any of these subjects. If not, is there a rationale for the redlinks. -TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:22, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Got a little redlink happy - removed one, but the rest are plausible (many already exist in other langs)
- The nomination passes all essential elements for all articles. I mentioned some minor issues above. I am imparitial between the hooks, but think it might be better to use the shorter one (ALT1).-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:34, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for reviewing. FWIW, I much prefer ALT1 as well, it's much more lively, forgot to indicate that in nom. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 14:46, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
