Hilde Rössel-Majdan
edit- ... that Hilde Rössel-Majdan, for decades a contralto with the Vienna State Opera, recorded with Hermann Scherchen music by Bach including his solo cantata Widerstehe doch der Sünde, BWV 54?

- Comment: related to a Bach cantata (article expanded considerably but not 5*) that was possibly written for the seventh Sunday after Trinity, 22 July, to appear 27 August the latest ;)

- Back to school for me; what's a contralto? Isn't mezzo more common in an operatic context? And there's plenty of hits for her as one, including here, where you would really hope they know what they're talking about and it's in a non-operatic context too; per hierarchy of the genres ;-) should this be switched or nay? - She was a REAL contralto, project opera likes the term, Kleinzach is the expert. Mezzo is different. At Beethoven's time there wasn't even the term mezzo-soprano, see. The Berliner Philharmoniker may not know that, or think that mezzo sells better ;) (Sure she could sing mezzo parts. But Erda isn't.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:56, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- : Ok, ok, good to go: length, date, hook checked out; (per the Opera Groves she's indeed a contralto, though per the Eulenburg score Erda is a role for a "tiefer Sopran"; while on the subject of the great one, do you know Hindemith's take on the overture for Der fliegende Holländer? Warning, may give you sore ears!), Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 22:18, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
