Overall: Good article! Please suggest more interesting hooks. RV (talk) 03:53, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- RAJIVVASUDEV Can you explain how it isn't interesting? I don't want to add more if I don't know what your issue is. I thought that a softball team being compared to a basketball team was interesting. SL93 (talk) 16:55, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- ALT1: ... that the Iowa Colored Cowboys was a softball team that combined comedy with the sport, including by playing in slow-motion? SL93 (talk) 16:59, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- ALT2: ... that teams such as the defunct softball team Iowa Colored Cowboys helped the later desegregation of major sports leagues? SL93 (talk) 17:20, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- I'm unstriking the desegregation one, I think it deserves consideration. To me that's at least as interesting as the comedy one. Valereee (talk) 18:09, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- I also think comparison to the HG is interesting to at least an American audience + anyone who has followed basketball or the desegregation of sports. The HG regularly beat other pro teams prior to desegregation because they had basically all the Black talent. Valereee (talk) 18:13, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- I don't want to step on the reviewer's toes, but I think that ALT2 and ALT1 are pretty close to each other in terms of interestingness, both fairly decent. Wouldn't make sense to approve one and not the other. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 18:38, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- I think SL93 had the right idea to begin with. ALT0 just needs to be reworded somewhat to make it more "hooky". Personally I *don't* like ALT1 at all, because it's inviting you to click on the basis of trying to work out whether or not it's some kind of minstrel show. ALT2 could work, also with tweaks. So my suggestions are:
- ALT0a: ... that the Iowa Colored Cowboys played softball for audiences of over a thousand people, in an atmosphere similar to a Harlem Globetrotters show?
- ALT2a: ... that barnstorming teams such as the Iowa Colored Cowboys helped the later desegregation of American baseball?
- Thanks in advance for your consideration and thanks SL93 for working on the article. Cielquiparle (talk) 16:48, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
