Jack Michaels
- ... that ice hockey commentator Jack Michaels began his career announcing an ostrich race? Source: Edmonton Journal
- ALT1: ... that sports commentator Jack Michaels, despite specializing in ice hockey, never learned to ice skate? Source: Meadville Tribune, Edmonton Journal
- ALT2: ... that sports commentator Jack Michaels went from announcing an ostrich race to calling a ice hockey game on national television? Source: Edmonton Journal, Edmonton Journal (for "national television)
- Reviewed: N/A (my 5th DYK)
- Comment: ALT0 is a bit quirky, while ALT1 is interesting, though maybe not to those who don't know ice hockey. I also added ALT2 as a variation of ALT0 with a contrast to make it more interesting.

- Article long and new enough. I'd say definitely go with ALT0 for the hooky feel. No QPQ needed though might want to review one for your next DYK. Article generally well-referenced, the hook fact is cited in article and verifiable in source. Earwig gives a 30% result, but that's because a verbatim quote. Good to go.
