Jacobus van der Vecht
edit- ... that the father of the entomologist Jacobus van der Vecht was the Master of the Wine Cellars at the court of the then Queen Dowager of the Netherlands, Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont? Source: C van Achterberg (1992). "Obituary and bibliography of Jacobus van der Vecht (1906-1992)". Zoologische Mededelingen. 66: 295–302

- Article is new and long enough. It is neutral and cites sources inline. Although "Earwig's Copyvio Detector" reports a high-rate (78.5%) similar content in one source, no copyvio can be seen by visual search. Hook is interesting and its length is within limit. Hook fact is accurate, and is cited inline. No QPQ is required since less than five DYK credits. Good to go. CeeGee 12:12, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Quetzal1964: would it be possible to come up with a shorter hook? At 182 (barely within the hard limit of 200) I think it's very hard for this hook to capture attention in the main page. HaEr48 (talk) 05:02, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- @HaEr48: how about
- ALT1 ... that the entomologist, Jacobus van der Vecht's, father was Master of the Wine Cellars at the court of Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont, Queen Dowager of the Netherlands?

- @CeeGee and Quetzal1964: Maybe no need to mention Emma of ... 's name? Her article was orange-tagged anyway (indicating quality issue), and her name is quite long. How about "Master of the Wine Cellars for the Dutch queen dowager"? HaEr48 (talk) 01:19, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
- No objections by me. Can go with ALT1. CeeGee 03:45, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

- @Quetzal1964: I was considering promoting this but the hook is unsatisfactory, linking as it does to a poorly referenced article. I think there are much better hooks available about the man himself, his wartime experience for example. Could you suggest something? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:29, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
- ALT2 ... that a number of insect species were named in honor of Dutch entomologist Jacobus van der Vecht? Source: "A number of species have been named in honour of van der Vecht by other entomologists ..." [1]
- Proposed ALT2, and checked for eligibility. Everything is fine. Good to go. CeeGee 04:30, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
