Knesset Eliyahoo
edit... that the Knesset Eliyahoo, (pictured) a synagogue in Fort, Mumbai, was established in 1884 by Jacob Elias Sassoon, a Baghdadi Jew, of the clan of Jews who had migrated from Baghdad?
5x expanded by Nvvchar (talk); Rosiestep (talk). Self-nominated by Nvvchar at 12:28, 23 May 2015 (UTC).
- To begin. Article is new enough expanded on May 22, long enough at >5400 characters. QPQ present. Img is fine. Hook is formatted correctly, short enough, NPOV.
- Could you provide an alternative source than the 2012 Birnbaum book as it is self-published and the text is very similar to the earlier 2008 New York Times article which makes me question its reliability?
- We can't say the population in 2014 with a source from 2008.
- I don't think we need the bit after Baghdadi Jew in the hook as "Baghdadi Jew" should be enough to tell people that they are from Baghdad. Cowlibob (talk) 03:10, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Cowlibob: Thanks for the review. Changed the unacceptable reference and made small corrections in the text. Population figures have been deleted. ALT1 Hook proposed

- There was a bit of close paraphrasing and information that was not properly understood from the sources; I edited the article for accuracy. The hooks are really wordy. And the interior view is so much clearer for a thumbnail. How about:
- ALT2:
... that a Baghdadi Jew established the Knesset Eliyahoo synagogue (pictured) in Mumbai?Yoninah (talk) 01:21, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- ALT2 works and is my preference for its conciseness. Thanks for your work, Yoninah. Image interior is better and is CC 2.0. Article is now NPOV, spotchecks free of copyvio, close paraphrasing, plagiarism. Enough in line citation. Is there a better redirect target than Jacob Elias Sassoon as that just redirects to the Sassoon baronets article? Cowlibob (talk) 01:49, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Cowlibob: I have removed the internal link to Jacob Elias Sassoon but Sassoon baronets has the same disambiguation link. ALT2 Hook with alternate picture is fine with me. Thanks.--Nvvchar. 04:03, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Yoninah and Nvvchar: Sorry for the late reply here. Yoninah is it possible to rephrase ALT2 slightly particularly the Baghdadi Jew bit somewhere else as we normally don't redirect to a redirect? Maybe ...that Jacob Elias Sassoon, a Baghdadi Jew,.... Cowlibob (talk) 05:09, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

- @Cowlibob: OK. More specific. ALT3 Hook ...

- I was trying to contrast "Baghdadi" with "Mumbai". Could we leave Sassoon out of this and just write:
- ALT4:
... that a descendant of a Jew from Baghdad established the Knesset Eliyahoo synagogue (pictured) in Mumbai?Yoninah (talk) 18:22, 6 June 2015 (UTC) - @Nvvchar:: Jacob Elias Sassoon was born in Bombay, so we can't call him a Baghdadi Jew. Yoninah (talk) 18:26, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- Here's another idea:
- ALT5: ... that the President of India, Giani Zail Singh, attended the centennial celebration of the Knesset Eliyahoo synagogue (pictured) in Mumbai in 1985, and India Post issued a commemorative stamp? Yoninah (talk) 18:39, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- ALT5 is fine with me.--Nvvchar. 02:13, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
