List of Apostolic Nuncios to China
edit- ... that the decision of China and the Holy See to establish diplomatic ties in 1918 did not succeed due to France's objection?
Created by HYH.124 (talk). Self nominated at 17:03, 26 November 2013 (UTC).
- Needs check on English for main page: "Since the late Qing Dynasty of China, the Holy See and China have intentions to establish direct contacts with each other, to break free restrictions from the Protectorate of missions of France. The Holy See responded Li Hongzhang from the Qing Empire on 3 May 1870 to establish diplomatic ties, ..." Not a major job I thinkJohnbod (talk) 18:32, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
- Johnbod was right that it needs looking at but its a lot trickier than he suggests. There are practically no references, nevermind for the hook fact. This is a new DYK attempt so I'm willing to help and I have started to copyedit the article. However we do need some serious help from @HYH.124 or another person interested in this subject. It has not been changed since 6 December! Victuallers (talk) 18:46, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
- I understand that but currently I have really no choice on what to do with the problems. I could not cite sources as I am not familiar with the subject. As for the English grammar, I could not help it as my grammar is not good either. So I guess you might as well just fail the nomination.--Huang (talk) 02:14, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
- I have cited reliable sources for the article. Please help with the grammar. Hope that it could be put up on DYK. --Huang (talk) 08:53, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- OK, I've tackled the re-review. Length and date are still OK. Article is now well-supplied by footnotes. Hook is appropriately supported by sources (but I could verify only the English-language source). I was bothered by the same passage that bothered Johnbod, but I slightly reworded the first sentence so that it describes efforts (which are documented in the source) rather than intentions (which are very hard to substantiate). I didn't find any copyvio or close paraphrasing. I am a bit bothered by the lack of sources for some of the entries in the list of chargés d'affaires. Since I can't make much sense out of the Vatican website entries about the careers of the various officials listed, I'm not able to help supply sources. Anyway, this is a lower-level position than nuncio, so that list is somewhat supplementary to the rest of the article. I'm marking this one as "good to go" because I think that list is relatively inconsequential, but I'd be happier if there were a clear indication of where that list of officials comes from. --Orlady (talk) 05:22, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
