List of Icelandic writers
edit
Bryndis Björgvinsdóttir
- ... that one in ten Icelanders will publish a book? [1]
ALT1:... that Iceland has more writers per head than anywhere else in the world? [2]
ALT2:... that Iceland has more writers, more books published and more books read, per head, than anywhere else in the world? [3]

Overall: ALT2 would read more smoothly, in my opinion, if the punctuation was slightly different, and the wording simplified:
ALT3:... that Iceland has the highest number of writers, books published, and books read per head?
- I also would drop the comma in ALT 1 (though grammatically not incorrect).
Let me know what you think, Frayae. Also, don't forget to do the QPQ. Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 11:50, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- Farang Rak Tham I think your suggestions for the hooks are good, and I prefer ALT3. This is my first nomination so I am exempt from QPQ unless you think I should do one anyway. Frayæ 12:07, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- Frayae, no, no need to do a QPQ. But ALT3 must be approved by a third editor per reviewing rules. For my part, I have approved all hooks now.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk)
- ALT3's hook fact is not explicitly mentioned in the article. Deferring to Farang Rak Tham On the eligibility of the other hooks. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 03:24, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
- Oops. Have sent a message to the nominator.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 11:16, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5 and Farang Rak Tham: Thank you for the message, I have included the hook in the article, see the addition. All the hooks are based on the same BBC source, and should be equally covered by the same paragraph now added to the article. Frayæ 18:36, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
- "Per capita" would read better than "per head". Yoninah (talk) 20:42, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- ALT4:... that Iceland has the highest number of writers, books published, and books read per capita?
- Fine by me. Frayæ 07:53, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- ALT4 approved.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 08:35, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Farang Rak Tham: do you mind if we drop ALT3? Then all the hooks will be approved. Frayæ 08:41, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this, and I think the first hook is great for the quirky slot. Frayæ do you mind if I promote that? The best hook is the snappiest.
- BTW, the bold link in the first hook and in ALT4 is not done correctly. The article is not about Iceland or Icelanders, but about Icelandic writers. These hooks would need to be piped this way:
- ALT0a: ... that one in ten Icelanders will publish a book?
- ALT4a: ... that Iceland has the highest number of writers, books published, and books read, per capita, than any other country? Yoninah (talk) 21:29, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: Yes I am happy for any of the hooks to be used, I was really not sure about exactly how to do the piped wikilinks properly so thanks for clarifying that, by all means go ahead. Frayæ 21:38, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I had noticed that, Yoninah, but I thought the context was clear enough. Anyway, I agree with ALT0a, but I prefer alt4 above the lengthier alt4a, provided the former hook is correctly piped.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 21:44, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- OK, ALT4 it is (with new piping). Restoring tick per your review. Yoninah (talk) 21:46, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
