  • The current hook is wordy and difficult to read, so here's a reword:
ALT1 ... that Maita Sanchez, who served as mayor of Pagsanjan, Laguna from 2010 to 2019, had an acting career before entering politics?
Given how it's not that uncommon for actors to become politicians (and the Philippines has many, many examples of this), I will leave it to another editor to see if the fact meets WP:DYKINT. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:46, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
    • I've given this some thought, and unfortunately there are two issues with the nomination. One is that Sanchez being a former actress is not uncommon or unusual in the context of the Philippines. Second, there's currently nothing else in the article that would work as a hook. With that in mind, the nomination is marked for closure as simply not being a fit for DYK at this time. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:13, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
  • @Narutolovehinata5: I think being a former Actor and mayor is normal in the Philippines, but being a mayor for 9 years is pretty unusual, can you maybe rethink this? 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 12:42, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
Being a mayor in the Philippines for 9 years or even longer is far from unusual; in fact, it's actually the norm in many places, especially with entrenched political dynasties. Like a politician serves three terms, then swaps out a position with a relative, then returns to their original post for another three terms. • An alternative hook could be: ... that Maita Sanchez, a mother of four and the wife of former governor E. R. Ejercito, endured three miscarriages while moving from acting to serving as mayor of Pagsanjan for nine years?
Maita Sanchez was rescued from AfD and AFAIK, I have almost used all the sources online. New information may be available in offline sources or local papers, which I will not be able to access. So, this nomination can be considered withdrawn or declined if the alternate hook is also not interesting. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 14:39, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
Although arguably interesting, I can't help but feel that this new hook might fail WP:DYKBLP or at least its spirit. Having a miscarriage, let alone three of them, is a deeply personal and depressing experience and I'm not comfortable with a hook that focuses on that aspect. Since issues with nomination remain outstanding and it doesn't look like there's a clear path to get around them, I think it's time to close this one. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 07:09, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
