Margaret McKenna

edit
  • ... that Sister Margaret McKenna and three other Plowshares activists were imprisoned for four months after they accessed the USS Iowa's top deck and beat on the ship's missile with hammers?

  • I've made a small correction to the article. According to this piece, they were (symbolically) pounding on the empty housing for the missile and not the missile itself. This needs to be made clear in the hook. Gobōnobō + c 00:17, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
  • Alt 1 ... that Sister Margaret McKenna and three other Plowshares activists were imprisoned for four months after they accessed the USS Iowa's third deck and symbolically beat on the ship's empty missile housing with hammers?

Here are two alts --Guerillero | My Talk 03:01, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

for the Alt1 hook. This article would seem to indicate that McKenna was maybe the only one who was sentenced to the four months and that it was for refusing to do the community service that was part of her probation. It looks like Berrigan got six months. I can't find a source that says that all four served four months.
Alt2 good to go. Length, date, hook and sourcing all checks out. No close paraphrasing was found and it looks to be BLP compliant. Gobōnobō + c 03:59, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
  • Alt 3 ... that Sister Margaret McKenna was imprisoned for four months after she accessed the USS Iowa's third deck and symbolically beat on the ship's empty missile housing with a hammer?

does this sound better? I am almost tempted to go with alt 2 because it is shorter but alt 3 is snappier --Guerillero | My Talk 05:32, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Alt3 good to go as well. I think if you do Alt2, that the die-in link will get a fair amount of clickthrough as a novel term, but both are good. I read an AP article that referred to the missile housing as a "cruise missile launcher" as well, so there are some options if you want to use language different than 'empty missile housing'. I think some of the news articles that I read missed the point on the hammer bit, which is supposed to be a reference to swords to ploughshares. Gobōnobō + c 06:16, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
I cleaned up die-in a bit. It isn't DYKable but it is decent enough to see the main page. --Guerillero | My Talk 07:48, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
