Mary L. Smith (educator)
- ... that Mary L. Smith became the first female president of Kentucky State University in 1991 despite having been passed over for the same job a year earlier? Source: Smith named KSU president in 1991 [1]; first female president [2]; Smith didn't make the top three finalists for the position in 1990 [3]

- Nice article, more than long enough and lots of refs. Its new enough. Kentucky State University should feel ashamed that the image of her is not allowed to be used. The copyright claim is so 20th century. The hook is OK for length and content. A more contentious hook might involve the accusation of racism made against her, but its a tricky area. Really impressive piece of work. Thank you DanCherek. Victuallers (talk) 07:58, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
