  • Other problems: No - ALT0 is good to go, but I think ALT1 could benefit from revision. The phrase "went on to" only makes sense in the context of ALT0; if ALT1 was on the main page, it would be by itself, and "went on to" wouldn't have the necessary context. Also, I think the hook would benefit from being more specific than "helped desegregate universities in Texas" (Helped how, exactly? Which universities?). The idea for the hook is solid, I just think it needs some re-wording.

  • @ZoyaBoris: Thanks for taking another run through this; I reviewed your changes to the article and the hook and they're both much better. Your changes to ALT1 are great, and you've also taken care of the El Paso Times copyvio issue–great job, both of those issues are all set. It's still unfortunately too high for the TSHAonline.org source (see this comparison showing 50%). Can you do another round of revisions to get that one down like you did for the El Paso source?       • Thanks for the ping, ZoyaBoris! It got better, Earwig score is now at 47.9%, but sorry, that's still too high, "in the yellow". I think the two problem areas are "precinct campaign organizer for the prohibition candidate in the Democratic primary, Robert E. Thomason" and "In 1968, the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance in El Paso created a Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of Lawrence A. Nixon, Maude Williams, Leroy W. Washington and other civil rights leaders for a student attending the University of Texas at El Paso.". Both passages appear word-for-word in the TSHA source. I think if you can rewrite those two passages, it should significantly drop the Earwig score and we'll be good to go. Thanks for sticking with this! – Levivich 23:57, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
