Montagne d'Or mine
- ... that there is a mountain of gold in French Guiana?
- ALT1:... that there is a mountain of gold in France?
- Reviewed: Protected Forests (Japan)
- Comment: ALT1 depends on the fact that French Guiana is an overseas region of France

- Article is freshly expanded and long enough. Article has sufficient inline citations (my French skills are limited, but I could grasp enough to verify they are appropriate; and anyway I would assume good faith), and the Earwig tool found no issues. QPQ provided. I do, however, have a slight issue with the hooks:
- The title "Montagne d'Or" is French for "mountain of gold". This seems quite obvious to us, but for someone with zero French skills it won't. So I suggest you add a sentence or phrase that explicitly explains how the name translates as "mountain of gold" into English. I am furthermore hesitant on ALT1 which sounds more "hooky", but is a bit tricky as most people will assume "France" refers to mainland France, even though it is technically correct. I'd propose something like "in a region (or departement) of France" as an alternative, where the added words prepare the reader that the location might not exactly be Paris.
- Not directly related to this review, but @Cwmhiraeth you might consider updating that last paragraph with info from this and/or this source(s), which indicate that the court order might not be followed. There's also a minor issue in the infobox, where the "bottom" from "pushpin_map_caption" seems to have sneaked (or snuck?) into the visible article. I'm not sure what exactly is wrong there, but maybe you can figure it out.
- Note: This is my first DYK review, and I am open to criticism and/or a second opinion. --LordPeterII (talk) 17:04, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
- @LordPeterII: Thank you for the review. I have dealt with most of the issues you raised but I haven't changed ALT1. Whoever promotes this nomination can choose which hook they like, and if they chose ALT1, I guess it would be put in the "quirky" 8th slot of the DYK set. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:23, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
- Alright, the issues are solved and the article is ready to go. You are right about the promoter's choice, and ALT1 isn't wrong or anything.
- Btw, just an idea: ALT1 might actually be eligible for a (comparably tame) April's Fool hook, but I'm not sure. @Cwmhiraeth, would you be interested in that? Otherwise, it can just go to the regular queue. --LordPeterII (talk) 19:39, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
- April fool's day is an awfully long way away, so I think not. They might have started mining by then! Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:44, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
- Good point ^^ Well, then the regular DYK section will get an interesting hook. --LordPeterII (talk) 21:02, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
