Overall: Thank you for a good, clear article on a subject which is difficult for the great unwashed, including me. It is even good enough to convince me that I have both leprosy and tuberculosis (British humour). I look forward to seeing more articles of this calibre, from you.
- In my opinion, there is no plagiarism in the article which is worth paraphrasing or putting in quotation marks, but because some of the phrases found by Earwig are a bit long, I shall put the link here in case someone else wants to double-check.
- The citation given for the hook is offline but for the summary. The summary appears to support ALT0, but the bit supporting ALT1 must be in the offline section. So the hook citations are accepted in good faith.
- Sorry, Onegreatjoke, but we need a full QPQ from you, as a nominator of experience and ability. The above QPQ is only for the hook.Summary: This article will be good to go when we have a full QPQ, please? Thank you. Storye book (talk) 17:28, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

- Thank you, Onegreatjoke, for your prompt response. Good to go. Storye book (talk) 20:20, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Onegreatjoke: I can't find ALT1 supported in the source, could you provide a more precise page number or a quote? Thanks. Sojourner in the earth (talk) 22:17, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Onegreatjoke and Storye book: ALT0 seems very promising but shouldn't it be "Mycobacteria" plural...? Might be worth checking within the article text as well, as I think there's a bit of singular/plural pronoun/verb agreement confusion here. Cielquiparle (talk) 11:40, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- You're right. I noticed that too, but forgot to correct it. But to keep the hook's intended meaning, we should keep the species singular and have Mycobacterium ... its. Could someone please approve ALT0a for us? Thanks. Storye book (talk) 16:05, 10 March 2023 (UTC):
ALT0a ... that Mycobacterium constantly remodels its cell wall layers to survive in stressful environments and avoid a host's immune defenses? Storye book (talk) 16:05, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Storye book: You can approve it yourself as the reviewers, as it's only a minor modification. Thanks for fixing. Cielquiparle (talk) 16:10, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- Does "Mycobacterium" need to be italicized if it refers to the genus rather than an individual mycobacterium? I've struck ALT1 since there's been no response from Onegreatjoke. Sojourner in the earth (talk) 17:20, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Sojourner in the earth: and @Onegreatjoke: and @BluePenguin18: I agree that Mycobacterium should be in italics in the hook, because it is in italics in the article, and I have corrected that (thank you for alerting us about that). However, I have had to unstrike ALT1, at least for now, because Onegreatjoke has only had two days to respond to the question about it, and we have to remember that we are not all confined to barracks and chained to our computers all day, every day. Some people have to earn a living. Normally on DYK, we allow nominators and creators at least a week to reply, before assuming that they have resigned responsibility for the nomination. Besides, I do not agree that we cannot accept an offline citation in good faith. We are already accepting offline material, especially printed books and journals in good faith, and this citation is in that bracket. So I suggest that we give Onegreatjoke and BluePenguin a fair chance to reply, at least. Peace and love. Storye book (talk) 18:01, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- I guess you can strike Alt1 since I can't access the source personally so I'm unable to verify the hook myself. Onegreatjoke (talk) 18:07, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, Onegreatjoke. Good to go, with ALT0a. Storye book (talk) 18:11, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- I just want to clarify, for the record, that I wasn't assuming bad faith. I do have access to the source, and I couldn't find that information in it. Sojourner in the earth (talk) 18:19, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- This is my first ping about the article being nominated for a DYK, so thanks to Onegreatjoke for the submission and Storye book for the kind comments! I would suggest rephrasing the submission to "... that Mycobacterium bacterial species constantly remodel their cell wall layers to survive in stressful environments and avoid their host's immune defenses?" This provides a short description and clearly sets the subject as the plural species of this genus. Personally, I like the ALT1 phrasing, which I sourced from this 1999 EPA report (https://www.epa.gov/sites/default/files/2015-10/documents/mycobacteria-report.pdf), but either works with me! - ALT0b: ... that Mycobacterium bacterial species constantly remodel their cell wall layers to survive in stressful environments and avoid their host's immune defenses? (Suggested by BluePenguin18, above).
- Confirm green tick for ALT0b and ALT1. Note: the source for ALT1 has been replaced above and in the article by one recommended by the article's author. Storye book (talk) 19:09, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
