Nicolas Joel
edit- ... that Nicolas Joel, general manager of the Paris Opera from 2009 to 2014, directed Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen for the Opéra du Rhin in 1979 after having assisted Chéreau's Jahrhundertring in Bayreuth? Source: [1] and others

- Comment: beginning a career with that piece is highly unusual, - better wording appreciated

- The 8th reference is a dead link. Reference 5 works, but it probably shouldn't be set up to redirect someone to a print options page like it did on my computer. If that is the only option, I guess reference 5 is fine. Reference 13 and 14 are showing as dead links instead of PDFs. Reference 15 is showing as a dead link. SL93 (talk) 18:47, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
- I replaced all dead links by working ones. About ref 5 (still 5, while other numbering changed, had to replace one dead link by four, and dropped one fact) has no print options for me, - I took it as found via google. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:41, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
- This is ready. I assume good faith on the non-English references. SL93 (talk) 01:49, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this, but there's too much going on in this hook. Is it important to mention his position at the Paris Opera? And I only know that Jahrhundertring is the Ring Cycle because I review these hooks. I daresay most readers won't connect the two. I wish you would use more English. - The position in Paris is prime. - Look at Project Opera where that is the only thing mentioned (not by me, - Voceditenore does the top.) Of course we could drop the Jahrhundertring, but it's a short catchy term with a link, and people - even if they don't know any of opera - might know that Chéreau (a GA worth showing again) made controversial films. It's adding colour to just a position. I don't know ANY stage director who began with the largest piece there is. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:02, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: can we shorten it by removing the dates of his tenure at the Paris Opera? Yoninah (talk) 23:52, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
- We need at least one, for the span, and then readers might think he still is.
- ALT1: ... that Nicolas Joel, general manager of the Paris Opera from 2009 to 2014, directed Wagner's Ring
alreadyin 1979 after having assisted Patrice Chéreau for the cycle's centenary? - Drop "already" if you think that's too much. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:28, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
