Orchard Beach (Bronx)
edit- ... that Orchard Beach, the only beach in the New York City borough of the Bronx, is frequently called the "Bronx Riviera"? Source: Jackson, Kenneth T., ed. (2010), The Encyclopedia of New York City (2nd ed.), New Haven: Yale University Press, ISBN 978-0-300-11465-2, p. 958.
- ALT1:... that in the 1930s, New York City's Orchard Beach was expanded upon 110 acres (45 ha) of garbage and other landfill? Sources: (1) NY Times 1935; "Refuse Dumping Opposed; Bronx Civic Leaders Criticize Pelham Bay Park Project". (2) NY Times 2013. "In just two years, they used landfill to build 115 new acres for the park and created the 1.1-mile-long beach that exists today."

- Comment: I will be on vacation until the end of August. I'll also add an extra alt hook later.

- Interesting substantial article, on plenty of good sources. I think the original - with orchard and riviera - is too harmless, and am not keen on "convert". How about something about the sand from somewhere else, more than once, for those who don't know? Will wait for qpq also. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:56, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: Thanks for the review. I'll try to get a QPQ done, but I might not get to it until the end of this month, because I'm still on vacation. How about this alt hook: epicgenius (talk) 03:35, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
- ALT2: ...that sand from Sandy Hook, New Jersey, and from New York City's Rockaway Peninsula, was brought by barge to Orchard Beach?
- The hook is fine, enjoy vacation. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:33, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: Thanks. I'm back from vacation now, and I've completed a QPQ. epicgenius (talk) 00:51, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- thank you, I prefer ALT2. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:32, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
