Prince Edward Island automobile ban
edit- ... that the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island banned automobiles for ten years starting in 1908? Source: [1] "... cars weren’t allowed on Island roads from 1908 to 1913. Even when the ban was repealed, autos could only be driven three days a week, ...." and "... the 12-year-long struggle that would, in 1919, eventually see cars given unlimited access to the roads of P.E.I."
- ALT1:... that automobiles were once banned from roads in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island? Source: as above
- Comment: PEIsquirrel is Ivanvector's alt account. "Ten years": cars were banned from 1908; a decision to repeal the ban in 1913 was rejected in a plebiscite, and the ban was not actually fully rescinded until 1919. More sources are in the article.

- The article is new enough, long enough, and Earwig doesn't detect any significant Copyvios. Both hooks are interesting and I do not have a preference. This is your third DYK so no need for QPQ. Overall, it was an interesting article about a piece of Canadian history I knew nothing about. Thank you for your submission. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:07, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. For what it's worth, I did the QPQ review for my first two DYKs anyway, in case anyone keeps count. I have been short of time this time around. Ivanvector's squirrel (trees/nuts) 14:14, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
