Robyn Benincasa

edit
  • ... that Robyn Benincasa ran a marathon four months after her hip replacement surgery, and then founded the nonprofit Project Athena to support women in pursuing their athletic dreams after suffering medical setbacks? Source: "She underwent hip resurfacing surgery, and 16 weeks later, ran the Sedona Marathon with her friend Melissa Geary by her side. "That made me think of how great it would be to bring that kind of confidence and support to other women," she says. Months later, she launched Project Athena, a nonprofit that helps women who have suffered a medical setback live out their athletic dreams." ([1])
  • ALT1: ... that Robyn Benincasa ran a marathon four months after her hip replacement surgery?

Interesting woman, on good sourcs, offline sources accepted AGF, no copyvio obvious. I wonder if the hook would be better stopping after "surgery", - it's pretty amazing. Please place the ref right behind the sentence about the marathon. Can we have consistency about Guinness records vs. Records? How do you feel about an infobox? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:18, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for this concrete and constructive feedback. I've added an infobox, fixed the records/Records capitalization, added an inline cite right after the marathon statement, and proposed an ALT1 text that matches your suggestion. Does this work for you now? Kenirwin/(talk) 13:17, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
Mostly delighted, just the ALT looks not much shorter ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:50, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
Whoops! Fixed that. Thanks! Kenirwin/(talk) 14:01, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
I prefer ALT1 but approve both, so the longer one or parts of it can be used for Main page balance reasons. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:21, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but the source says she had hip resurfacing surgery, not hip replacement surgery. I corrected this in the article. Is it still hooky? I wonder if most people know what hip resurfacing is. Yoninah (talk) 20:05, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
It's still hooky to me - any kind of hip surgery would be - but perhaps ask at DYK? I am known for not knowing what readers find hooky.
ALT0b: ... that Robyn Benincasa ran a marathon four months after her hip resurfacing surgery, and then founded the nonprofit Project Athena to support women in pursuing their athletic dreams after suffering medical setbacks?
ALT1b: ... that Robyn Benincasa ran a marathon four months after her hip resurfacing surgery?

Tell the nominator, please. They told her she might not run ever again, - that's not "little" to me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:50, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
  • I already pinged the nominator. Yoninah (talk) 21:18, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: Thanks for catching this -- I wonder how many times I mis-read that! I agree with @Gerda Arendt: that it would be easy for someone to underestimate the significance, so I've proposed ALT0c, which goes back to the two-pronged hook -- first that she ran the marathon and then went on to found an org to help athletes with medical setbacks. I agreed with Gerda's suggestion of trimming the hook initially, but now it makes me want the long one back. What do you all think? Thanks! Kenirwin/(talk) 01:10, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
  • Thank you, Kenirwin, only I don't see a difference between ALT0b and your new one, and also you put it above my signature. I strike now the new short hook, and the new long one is approved. I remove ALT0c as misleading, but if you meant something else, please write it below. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:39, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
  • Please add your new alts to the bottom of the thread, Kenirwin. ALT0c is too long, and also tells everything the reader needs to know, so they won't have to click on the article, which is the purpose of the "hook". How about:
I approve them, and my preference is ALT2. I am not impressed by a sheer number of records, - if going the record line, I'd say what one of them is. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:56, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: I like ALT2, but I'm not sure it's quite accurate; she ran the marathon 4 months after the surgery; presumably the diagnosis preceded the surgery by some period. How about this variation below. Kenirwin/(talk) 14:59, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
* ALT2a: that Robyn Benincasa ran a marathon four months after having surgery for osteoarthritis and being told she would never run again?
fine with me, strike the other. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:17, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
