Rodney Legg
edit- ... that while chairman of the Open Spaces Society, Rodney Legg called the National Trust "an elitist club for art connoisseurs"...? Source: Obituary in The Guardian : "members of the National Trust establishment were shaken to be told that they were "an elitist club for art connoisseurs" who protected "a prime collection of dinosaurs". The accusation was levelled by Rodney Legg ... This was the 125th anniversary of the Open Spaces Society, of which Rodney was chairman"
- ALT1:... that Rodney Legg called the National Trust "an elitist club for art connoisseurs"...?
- Comment: ALT1 is more punchy but has less context. I thought about lengthening the quote (to "an elitist club for art connoisseurs" who protected "a prime collection of dinosaurs"), but was concerned about copyvio issues as the source quotes it exactly the same
