Royal Turf Club of Thailand

edit
  • ... that spectators without proper footwear used to have to rent shoes to attend races at the Royal Turf Club of Thailand? [1] (In Thai, but see CNN Travel for description of a similar arrangement at another course.)

  • The full review is to follow, but I'm not exactly sure if the hook proposed here is "hooky" enough; from experience, people requiring specific footwear and renting such footwear when going to certain places is not uncommon (for example, bowling alleys have similar policies for players). Indeed, it appears to be the norm at Thai racing courses, so it isn't specific to this one. As a suggestion, perhaps a hook about this phrase ("The club would also become known as Sanam Thai (the "Thai racecourse"), as opposed to the Sanam Farang ("Farang racecourse") at the RBSC, reflecting the split of the clubs' clients between Thais and Westerners") or a hook about the club being popular among Thai politicians could work too. • I can't quite think up a politics-related hook that will be succinct enough. How about the following Alts below? The shoe thing still seems quite interesting to me, though—maybe we could leave it as an option for the promoter to decide. (I also originally entertained the thought of making ALT3 a triple nomination, but decided to nominate the RBSC article separately, as it has a more interesting fact.) --Paul_012 (talk) 12:17, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
