SS Andaste

Source: Andaste

    • ALT1 - that the SS Andaste (pictured) – a hybrid Whaleback Great Lakes cargo vessel – disappeared with all hands on Lake Michigan in 1929 and is still listed as unfound? Source: "You are strongly encouraged to quote the source text supporting each hook" (and [link] the source, or cite it briefly without using citation templates)

5x expanded by Bigturtle (talk) and 7&6=thirteen (talk). Nominated by 7&6=thirteen () 02:00, 3 November 2017 (UTC) at 01:58, 3 November 2017 (UTC).

  • Correct persons credited, article expanded enough in the timeframe, and is now big enough, adequately referenced, and clear of copyright problems. Hook is short enough, sufficiently exciting, and is contained in article with cites. However I am unable to confirm that the ship has not been found as of 2017, the website that is used as a cite is dated 2016. Also the word "hybrid" is not in the refereneces on the end of the sentence, they say "semi". QPQ done, only one required. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:05, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
Graeme Bartlett (talk "Hybrid" appears in Thompson, Mark L. (April 13, 2004). Graveyard of the Lakes. Detroit, Michigan: Wayne State University Press. p. 26. ISBN 9780814332269. {{cite book}}: |work= ignored (help). Unfortunately, that page does not seem to display any longer. WP:AGF please. 7&6=thirteen () 12:32, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
Is there a reference that says its unfound by 2017? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:40, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
Graeme Bartlett (talk Received your note. Am looking for something that is an update of the search for the Andaste. So far, have not found one. One could infer that there is nothing to report. The Michigan Shipwreck Research Associates still lists it as missing, and one would presume that their website is updated as events unfold. The source says: "As with all missing ships, the Andaste may never be found. However, with today’s side scan sonar and other electronic search equipment, the secrets of 'ships gone missing' may someday be uncovered." "Andaste". Michigan Shipwreck Research Associates Michigan Shipwrecks.org. Retrieved October 26, 2017. But trying to locate an explicit up-to-the-minute report of a 'non-event' – i.e., it's still missing and no one has found it – is problematical. If that is the requirement we may need to find another hook.
I've updated the article and sources to reflect the above facts and quotations.7&6=thirteen () 12:14, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
    • ALT2 - that the SS Andaste (pictured), a semi-whaleback Great Lakes cargo vessel, which disappeared on Lake Michigan in 1929 was by all accounts considered an ugly ship?
Either of the alternates is good with me. 7&6=thirteen () 17:37, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
  • alt 1 or alt2 now are confirmable. Is there a picture to go with the (pictured). Did you miss it out? If no pictre remove this text and it will be good to go. Also in alt1 – is probably the wrong symbol. "," or "—" with no spacing are OKGraeme Bartlett (talk) 22:03, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
Doug Coldwell (talk just added the picture to the article. We need it here. 7&6=thirteen () 22:14, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
  • Actually no. I am waiting for you to include the picture on this template, so I can check it and then pass. Otherwise if no picture is to be included with the hook, then we remove the "pictured" text. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:41, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
  • Graeme Bartlett (talk) picture is here now. Thanks. 11:37, 5 November 2017 (UTC) 7&6=thirteen () 21:23, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
  • Picture is in the article, suitable, and free to use as it is public domain. Good to go with alt1 or alt2. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:28, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
SS Andaste fully laden
SS Andaste fully laden
  • I was going to promote this and was considering giving it the picture slot, but the other image in the article with the vessel fully loaded seems more suitable to me, especially as the ship sank when fully loaded. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:33, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

Cwmhiraeth (talk) Graeme Bartlett (talk) I am good with the other picture. It was not in the article when it was nominated. Thank you. 7&6=thirteen () 11:32, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

OK with File:SS Andaste 1910.jpg too as it is used and free. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:35, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
Please add User: Doug Coldwell and User: Tim1965 as cocreators. 7&6=thirteen () 12:15, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
