Semra Ertan

edit
  • ... that in 1982 Semra Ertan publicly set herself on fire in a Hamburg marketplace to protest growing xenophobia against Turks in Germany? Source: "In May 1982, on her twenty-fifth birthday, Ertan burned herself to death on the marketplace in Hamburg, protesting racist violence and murders and the seeming indifference of the German state, media, and public opinion" ([1])

  • Earwig returns "violation unlikely" on copvyio. No obvious signs of close paraphrasing. Hook is of appropriate length and is quite interesting. Article and hook are NPOV (though a possible value judgment is applied vis a vis "growing xenophobia" instead of "perceptions of growing xenophobia" the source assets that the xenophobia was a fact). GF on RS (the source is a book which is only partially available online and the entire reference can't be seen in full context which is important to note as the book in question is a juxtaposition of fictional characters with IRL persons). Article is new enough and long enough. All other policies are met. QPQ done. GTG. LavaBaron (talk) 01:14, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
  • @LavaBaron: thanks for the speedy review! I posted this last night and woke up this morning deciding to remove "growing" from the hook. Is that ok? Yoninah (talk) 11:28, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
  • I think that "publicly" could be trimmed, as "marketplace" seems to make it redundant. Edwardx (talk) 01:35, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
