Entertaining hook. Article was promoted to GA three days ago, is long enough, and the hook is verified by the sources and within the text. No issues with verification, copyright, or sourcing that I can see. Rethinking this, I think ALT1 seems like a more suitable hook, as the first one may not be the most ideal per WP:CENSORMAIN. I don't think it matters too much whether it says "desperate" or "thirsty", either would work just as well. But I think I'll leave that up to whoever handles the promotion of the hook.
