  • New (March 35th), long enough, "within policy", no copyvio found via spotcheck (no tool), no QPQ needed. Hooks don't have an immediate ref in article (see 3b). Please ping me if I don't respond. czar  03:46, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the review, Czar. I believe Alt1 is covered by footnote 15, the New York Times article "From Washington.; Thaddeus Hyatt Tenders a Patent Light to the Senate"; if you prefer the original hook I'll clarify the wording in the article and add a footnote for that. Altamel (talk) 19:00, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
I think the hooks are fine, but check out the "3b" link above to see what I'm talking about—anything mentioned in the hook needs to have a footnote in the prose after its mention. czar  02:25, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
Added footnotes for the original hook and tweaked the wording. Altamel (talk) 23:10, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
Close—both hooks check out, but the ALT is over 200 characters. A few notes: I'm not sure "recalcitrant" is necessary to add, and I don't think kancoll.org is a reliable source (and you already have another source, so it should be removed) czar  01:46, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
The original article on kancoll.org was written in 1940 for the Kansas Historical Quarterly, which the Kansas Historical Society publishes. All the people on the website did was digitalize the article, which seems to be a pretty accurate transcription (compare the scanned version on the Internet archive at [1], check page 227]. I can swap out the url for that article if you prefer, but it is very detailed and I would like to keep it. Altamel (talk) 02:16, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Proposed shortened version of Alt1 as hook Alt2 as well. Altamel (talk) 02:38, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
gtg. Yes, please replace the kancoll with the Internet Archive. Kancoll may be a plain transcription job but we know nothing of the quality (and it isn't for us to decide)—that's why we have RS. ALT1 still too long—I cut it down. I think the "refused to stay" is a bit too harsh to put it—it's more like they left than refused anything, you know? Anyway, they all check out, though I personally prefer main or ALT1. czar  03:14, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
