  • Can we run this as the last hook on New Years Eve? So we can end the world year with a bang. Abyssal (talk) 22:03, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
  • Impressive, but not new enough - started January, already mostly done by October. You could get to GA, & come back that way I think. Also the hook is too long. Johnbod (talk) 11:01, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
You're seeing its history as a user space draft. I moved it to the main space last night. Abyssal (talk) 14:48, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
Ok, sorry. But you are supposed to point that out in the nom. Do you need to do a QPQ? Johnbod (talk) 17:24, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
@Johnbod:Abyssal (talk) 16:24, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
Personally I'd be inclined to get this version trimmed to the character limit: ALT 2: ... that paleontologists have attributed the extinction of the non-avian dinosaurs to causes like rising atmospheric oxygen levels, racial degeneration, their own stupidity, competition from mammals, dropping sea levels, skewed sex ratios, volcanoes, supernovas, and, more recently, a meteor impact (pictured)? It would be helpful to list the current ref #s for the hook, as the article is so long. Johnbod (talk) 17:42, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
  • New, long, & neutral enough. Earwig says "Violation Unlikely, 20.6%, confidence" - nothing worrying picked up. Pic is US gov't PD & ok to use. We just need to sort the hook & its refs. QPQ now complete. Johnbod (talk) 17:48, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
    • OK, @Johnbod: your ALT 2 is fine. I'll get you those sources:
    • Rising atmosphric oxygen[11]
    • Racial degeneration[14]
    • Stupidity[15]
    • Competition from mammals[15] (and others)
    • Declining sea levels[17]
    • Sex ratios[84]
    • Volcanoes[9] and others
    • Supernovas[21]
    • Meteor impact[33] and others Abyssal (talk) 16:07, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
Right, ping on Christmas Day. Nice! Pity it took a week to do this. All hook sources check out on AGF, & so ALT2 is good to go. The article has now picked up an orphan tag, which it would be good to loose by adding some links in a few other articles, but I don't think this stops it proceeding - better to shift it though. Johnbod (talk) 22:37, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
Orphan status now sorted, & tag gone. Johnbod (talk) 05:42, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
@Casliber: You seem active. Can you help us get this ready for New Years Eve? It's been approved for days but no one has moved it to the special occasion holding area or a queue or anything. Abyssal (talk) 03:11, 30 December 2016 (UTC)\
I think we'll have to discuss and get consensus as the preps and queues now go into January. Will take it to discussion. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 06:22, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
The original hook is 363 characters, and ALT2 is 295. I've struck both of them, as they're way over the limit of 200. As noted when ALT2 was proposed, if a version of it is to be used, it will have to be a trimmed version.
Note: Please pay attention to the template instructions which say: "Please do not write below this line or remove this line. Place comments above this line." Johnbod broke it. Northamerica1000 fixed it. Abyssal broke it again, then fixed it incorrectly, which caused Johnbod's next edit to break it again. I fixed it again. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 03:59, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
