Treaty of Livadia
edit- ... that the terms of the Treaty of Livadia between Qing China and the Russian Empire were so unfavorable to China that the negotiator Chonghou was sentenced to death? [1]: "The Chinese negotiator who signed the treaty barely escaped with his life. The court commuted his death sentence, and he died in obscurity ... It has never been adequately explained how such an experienced official could have signed a treaty which the Chinese government immediately labeled as inimical to its interests and counter to its explicit instructions."

Livadia: Created by Howcheng (talk). Chonghou: 5x expanded. Self-nominated at 18:39, 23 February 2018 (UTC).
- Article is new enough, long enough, neutral, and well written. Hook is interesting, neutral, and verified with academic source. QPQ is done. No copyvio found. Good to go. -Zanhe (talk) 04:55, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- Great work expanding Chonghou! Unfortunately it still falls short of the required 5x expansion. The pre-expansion article had about 1900 characters, while the current version has about 6300 characters of readable prose. It needs 9500 characters to qualify for DYK. Sorry. -Zanhe (talk) 05:38, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
- Adding question icon to await outcome of this review. Either Chonghou will be expanded, or unbolded from the hook. Yoninah (talk) 16:36, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
