- Hi, welcome to DYK! This is a new enough Good Article (congrats!) and does not have any textual issues. You also don't need to review another nomination, as this is your first. That leaves the hooks to be examined.
- ALT0—the first hook—is spectacularly uninteresting to people not familiar with racing. We try and find hooks that will lure in a general audience. I've also decided to rewrite ALT1 in an attempt to bring it closer:
- ALT1a: ... that after qualifying on the pole at a late model stock car race, Ty Majeski chose to start at the rear for a chance to win more money—and won the race?
- NASCARfan0548, if you approve of ALT1a as worded, then the nomination can be approved. Raymie (t • c) 00:03, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- Raymie, Thank you! I approve of the hook. NASCARfan0548 ↗ 00:05, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- Approved! Raymie (t • c) 00:18, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Raymie:All of these noms are weak in wikilinks IMHO. How about a linking to at least late model and as a bonus stock car racing to give context to the reader? I propose ALT1b. "Starting in the rear" sounds funny and might by hard for non-racing fans to understand. How about "starting last" for ALT1c? Royalbroil 02:50, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

- After starting the article and doing much work toward it becoming a GA, I believe that I deserve GA and DYK credit. For example: initial diff, diff to highlight a few groups of edits. I did a QPQ DYK review of KVZK-TV since I had many DYK (all over 8 years ago). Royalbroil 02:50, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah Royalbroil, I should have thought of that; either is fine. Thanks for supplying a QPQ. And having looked at authorship, you definitely deserve credit. Raymie (t • c) 03:37, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- Actually Royalbroil, you'll need to have the two wikilinks for late model and stock car race separated to avoid a WP:SEAOFBLUE, if you need both of there (late model feels like the bigger need). Raymie (t • c) 04:00, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- I wasn't familiar with that one (SEAOFBLUE), thanks for pointing it out. Late model is far more important as it implies stock car. Royalbroil 04:05, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- Went ahead and removed the link from "stock car race" on ALT1b/1c. Raymie (t • c) 06:00, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote ALT1b because readers who are familiar with the terminology will think ALT1c is a bit silly. But the description of the Oktoberfest event at LaCrosse in October 2020 doesn't say anything about it being a
late model
race. Is that really important or can it be removed from the hook? Yoninah (talk) 20:47, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- "Super Late Model" is in the reliable source [1] but wasn't listed in that sentence in the article. The ARCA Midwest Tour is a series of Super Late Models that tours in the Upper Midwestern United States. Super Late Model was tied to ARCA Midwest Tour in the first paragraph of the section ARCA Midwest Tour/TUNDRA Late Models (2012–2016). I repeated it in the section with the hook. Thanks for asking for clarification and for volunteering to help at DYK! Royalbroil 03:16, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
- Could we just finish up the DYK? It has been two weeks since I started this nomination. NASCARfan0548 ↗ 17:12, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
- @NASCARfan0548: There's no reason to be in a hurry at DYK. We try to make sure all the facts are in order so no one will pull it from the queues or even the main page. Usually we say it takes up to a month for a hook to be promoted. Please be patient. Yoninah (talk) 18:18, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: I'm not in a hurry. I'm just saying even the GA nomination took this long and it worked out. NASCARfan0548 ↗ 18:21, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
- @NASCARfan0548: You were lucky. My GAs usually take months before they're even looked at. Yoninah (talk) 18:35, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for updating the text and reference, Royalbroil. Restoring tick per Raymie's review. Yoninah (talk) 20:03, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
