Vladimir Bukovsky
edit... that for exposing political abuse of psychiatry in the Soviet Union, dissident Vladimir Bukovsky spent nine years in Soviet psychiatric prison hospitals and labor camps, before being exchanged for Chilean communist Luis Corvalán in 1976?
- ALT1:
That in 1971, Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovsky managed to smuggle to the West over 150 pages which documented in detail Soviet political abuse of psychiatry, provoking an international campaign that led to the withdrawal of the Soviet representatives from the World Psychiatric Association in 1983? - ALT2:
That in 1976, Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovsky was exchanged for Luis Corvalán, the general secretary of the Communist Party of Chile?

- Nominated within a week of GA promotion, no copyvio detected, hook is interesting and supported by reliable inline citations. I feel the first hook is most interesting. Sainsf (talk · contribs) 10:32, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this, but I am having trouble toting up all the years he spent incarcerated. The lead mentions 12 years, then 9, but I don't see the 9 years clearly stated or added up. Also, the first hook is pretty long; I would end it after "camps". Alternately, you could build a hook around a shorter factoid. Yoninah (talk) 22:08, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Yoninah and Sainsf: Agreed, the wording was confusing. I have fixed the article lead to reflect the chronology of Bukosvky's incarcerations. The sentences he actually spent seem to add up to over 9 years (not counting at times lengthy pre-trial detentions). The specific incarceration following his exposing of psychiatric abuse lasted 5 years. I have adjusted the first hook and made it shorter; if it's still too long, the prisoner exchange probably can be removed.

- Yes, the article does look better now. What do you think about sharpening the hook?

... that for alerting human rights activists to the use of indefinite psychiatric imprisonment against opponents of the Soviet regime, Vladimir Bukovsky (pictured) was confined for five years in Soviet psychiatric prison-hospitals, labor camps, and prisons?Yoninah (talk) 14:36, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- Great Yoninah, you have a talent for hooky hooks :) Sainsf (talk · contribs) 14:38, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you, but it's too long. Here's a shorter version:
