  • Refs, neutrality, copyvio spotcheck, QPQ. Was an interesting read, thanks! Its good to go. - LouisAragon (talk) 02:16, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
  • I am not happy to promote this hook as written. Could it be reworded to
  • ALT1 ... that Chinese resistance fighter Zheng Pingru (pictured), who was executed after an assassination attempt on a Japanese collaborator, is believed to be the inspiration for the film Lust, Caution? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:40, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
She was the inspiration for the book character, which was subsequently turned into a film. This should be mentioned.
ALT3: that Chinese resistance fighter Zheng Pingru (pictured), who was executed after an assassination attempt on a Japanese collaborator, is believed to be the inspiration for the novella Lust, Caution, and its subsequent film adaptation?
It's a bit long, but at least it's accurate. @Cwmhiraeth, RileyBugz, Zanhe, and LouisAragon: What do you think? Anarchyte (work | talk) 12:01, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
At 232 characters (or 221 without the "pictured"), it exceeds the limit of 200 characters. Alt3a would be short enough
  • ALT3a ... that Chinese resistance fighter Zheng Pingru (pictured), who was executed after an assassination attempt on a Japanese collaborator, is believed to be the inspiration for a book and its film adaptation? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:36, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth and Anarchyte: I feel like it is very important to mention the name of the book, since it gives context to the genre of it. I therefore suggest:
  • ALT4 ... that Chinese resistance fighter Zheng Pingru (pictured), who was executed after an assassination attempt on a Japanese collaborator, is believed to be the inspiration for the book and film Lust, Caution?
What are your thoughts on that? RileyBugz私に叫ぼう私の編集 13:50, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
@RileyBugz: My problem with that is that it mentions the film name, not the book, which came first.
AlT4a: that Chinese resistance fighter Zheng Pingru (pictured), who was executed after an assassination attempt on a Japanese collaborator, is believed to have inspired Lust, Caution, and the film adaptation?
4a clocks in at 201 characters, not including the "..." but including "that". Anarchyte (work | talk) 14:04, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
@Anarchyte: Let's just IAR on this and do my suggestion, with the addition of "its" and "adaptation"; I feel like its important to mention the medium of both works. RileyBugz私に叫ぼう私の編集 14:09, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
@RileyBugz: IARing for a couple of characters might be acceptable, but let's make sure the hook has the original work in full text, not the adaptation. @Cwmhiraeth: We could shave off a few characters by reducing resistance fighter to spy, as that's what the article describes her as in the lead. Anarchyte (work | talk) 14:20, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
AlT4b: that Chinese spy Zheng Pingru (pictured), who was executed after an assassination attempt on a Japanese collaborator, is believed to have inspired the novella Lust, Caution, and its film adaptation?
Clocks in at 198, again not counting the ellipsis. Anarchyte (work | talk) 14:20, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
The hook looks good, then. It comes in at 188 characters if you remove the "(pictured)". RileyBugz私に叫ぼう私の編集 14:27, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
If you are happy with AlT4b then let it be, but her activities involving spying on an occupying power made her a resistance fighter and not a spy in my opinion. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:29, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
