This is a documentation subpage for Template:Gaeltacht place name. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Usage
editThis template displays an English-language version of a place name in a Gaeltacht area and optionally and English-language translation of the Irish name.
Example:
- Code:
{{Gaeltacht place name|Dingle|The Fortress}}
- Result: meaning "The Fortress", anglicised as Dingle
The second parameter is optional. If it is not included then the article will be added to Category:Untranslated Irish place names. Example:
- Code:
{{Gaeltacht place name|Dingle}}
- Result: anglicised as Dingle
An additional optional parameter is no_translate
. This can be invoked in order to stop unwanted pages being added to Category:Untranslated Irish place names.
For example, if the Irish- and English-language versions mean the same then there is no point in repeating this information. However, it would be inappropriate to add the article to Category:Untranslated Irish place names. In order to suppress, an article being automatically added to Category:Untranslated Irish place names, simply add no_translate=true
when using the template. Example:
- Code:
'''Oileán Thoraigh''' ({{Gaeltacht place name|Tory Island|no_translate=true}})
- Result: Oileán Thoraigh (anglicised as Tory Island)
