This template lists the main political entities of medieval India proper, i.e., the Indian subcontinent excluding Baluchistan, the Deccan and the Northeast, but including early medieval Kabulistan and Balochistan.
- Do not add states whose territories included India but were based outside the region mentioned above.
- Do not add names of dynasties. Instead add the name of the kingdom ruled and then, in case of multiple dynasties (more than two), list them within the kingdom mentioned.
- For categorising states formed during the medieval era into different periods, use their establishment date only. Categorise all states during the medieval era that were formed in the Classical period in the first period.
