Notes on use

The MerckManual and MerckHome templates helps markup links to respectively the Professional Edition and Home Edition of the Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy medical textbooks.

Three parameters are required, with options (to maintain backwards compatibility) for a fourth for page number and fifth for alternative displayed text.

  1. Section number
  2. Chapter number
  3. Topic letter
  4. Page number
  5. Optional title text

Example for the skin condition folliculitis:

Markup  {{MerckManual|10|119|f}}
Giving 10-119f. at The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy Professional Edition

The new fifth parameter allows:
Markup  {{MerckManual|10|119|f||Folliculitis}}
Giving Folliculitis at The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy Professional Edition

On the home edition example using a page number:

Markup  {{MerckHome|18|211|h|499}}
Giving 18-211h.499 at Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy Home Edition

and with page number and alternative text:
Markup  {{MerckHome|18|211|h|499|Lymphadenitis}}
Giving Lymphadenitis at Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy Home Edition
