This is a documentation subpage for Template:New year header. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
This template may have no transclusions, because it is substituted by a tool or script, it is used as part of a short-term or less active Wikipedia process, or for some other reason. |
Usage
editThis template is used every New Year's Day on the articles for the involved years while the year is changing over. The year changes at different times in different time zones, and this template automates the updates to keep the articles current hour-to-hour.
It works by calculating the time zone in which it was most recently midnight of a new year, and displaying appropriate text for the first sentence of the appropriate year article. This template gives accurate results between 0:00, December 31 UTC and 23:59, January 1 UTC; at other times the standard template should be used.
Usage: '''2018''' is {{New year header|new}}. It is {{Year article header/zc|2018}}.
Use "new" for the incoming year and "old" for the outgoing year. For testing, an optional second and third argument can provide a day of the month (31 or 1) and a time in hhmm format, no colon.
