If the media is in the public domain in both its source country and the United States, it may be transferred to the Wikimedia Commons. This is the template sandbox page for Template:Non-free in US (diff). |
This template is used to mark media which are not necessarily free of copyright restrictions in the use, typically because the US does not apply the "rule of the shorter term" , or that a work was restored for a full copyright term under URAA.
Usage
editOn certain media license templates, this template is included automatically where relevant.
However to include the wording manually on media (or inside a template.) use:
{{Non-free in US|origin country|URAA date for country}}
where (optionally):
- origin country is the country of origin for the media, such as Mexico, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Spain.
- URAA date for country is the date prior to which works which works already in the public domain could not be restored in the United States.
(The default is 1996, but a few countries have URAA dates which post-date this.)
