Usage
edit{{SOWL}} is a simple template for inserting a mention, or ideally, a citation, of the book The Sounds of the World's Languages by Peter Ladefoged and Ian Maddieson, which is cited extremely commonly in articles on phonetics and phonology, both inline citations and general references, and often listed in further reading and bibliography sections (such as at Peter Ladefoged#Selected publications).
Useful parameters:
- First parameter: optional page number. A page number should be given if this template is used for citation, but omitted in bibliography and further reading sections.
|mode=cs2: Makes it compatible with {{citation}} rather than {{cite book}}. This changes the look slightly (basically, commas instead of periods are used to separate sections of the citation), and should be used when the remaining citations use {{citation}}. In both cases, parenthetical references inserted using {{harv}} or similar templates will work properly.
