Hi Uw-medrs, I'm Example. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you recently made additions to one or more articles without citing a reliable source. Please note that all content and edits on Wikipedia are expected to be verifiable in reliable sources. In articles related to medical topics, the standard for content and sourcing is defined at WP:MEDRS, and in your edit you did not include any references that meet that ideal. Please have a look at MEDRS to learn about the quality standards for medical sourcing. You might also want to take a look at WikiProject Medicine. If you have any questions related to sourcing of medical issues, you can ask at the WikiProject Medicine Talk page. For general questions about sourcing, see Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Optional, final comment here. ~~~~
This template should always be substituted (i.e., use {{subst:Uw-medrs}} ). |
This template is intended for use on the Talk page of users who have edited articles related to medical topics and either neglected to add a reference where needed, or have added references which are not MEDRS-compliant. It may be used for users who have made good faith efforts to include reliable citations in the article, but which do not meet the standards of citations defined by Wikipedia:Reliable medical sources.
Usage
edit{{subst:Uw-medrs}}
{{subst:Uw-medrs|sourced=yes}}
{{subst:Uw-medrs|1=UNCOMPLIANT ARTICLE1|2=UNCOMPLIANT ARTICLE2}}
{{subst:Uw-medrs|UNCOMPLIANT ARTICLE1|good1=GOOD ARTICLE1}}
{{subst:Uw-medrs|1=UNCOMPLIANT ARTICLE1|comment=EXTRA TEXT}}
This template autosigns with four tildes; please do not add a signature.
Parameters
editThere are two positional and four named parameters. All parameters are optional.
|1=
– name of first article with reference(s) added by the user which are not MEDRS-compliant|2=
– name of another article with non-compliant referencing
|good1=
– an article with references added by the user which are MEDRS-compliant|good2=
– a second article with compliant referencing|sourced=
– yes or no; changes the text based on whether user added a source or not (default: no)|comment=
– any text string; will be added just before the auto-signature.
Effects of parameters
In the sentence beginning, "I noticed that you recently made additions to one or more articles...", adding |sourced=yes
will modify the end of that sentence to:
- ...where you added a citation to a reliable source. Thank you for respecting Wikipedia's policy on WP:Verifiability and for using citations!
Adding one or both positional parameters, modifies that sentence to:
- ... made additions to one or more articles such as uncompliant article1... , if
|1=
is included - ... made additions to several articles such as uncompliant article1 or uncompliant article2..., if
|1=
and|2=
are included
Using one or both of the |good*=
parameters also adds an additional sentence, after "...may have been removed," namely:
- On the other hand, the sourcing for good article1 [and good article2] looks fine, keep up the good work!
Using the |comment=
parameter adds whatever text you supply to the end of the message. It is immediately followed by your signature (added automatically by the template).
Examples
edit{{subst:Uw-medrs}}
- Simple invocation, no params; gives generic message with links to WP:MEDRS without mentioning any articles.
{{subst:Uw-medrs|sourced=yes}}
- Using named param
|sourced=
expands the generic message to acknowledge the user's attempt to add a citation to a reliable source, but without mentioning any specific article they touched.
- Using named param
{{subst:Uw-medrs|Vulcan anesthesiology|Invertebrates on Ganymede}}
- Using positional params
|1=
and|2=
names and links two articles with problematic references added by the user
- Using positional params
{{subst:Uw-medrs|Vulcan anesthesiology|good1=Robot plankton|good2=Jovian exophyla|comment=Happy editing!}}
- Params
|1=
and|2=
