This template may be used to add boxed material with a link to a foreign language Wiktionary page. See Help:Interwiki linking for recommendations about when to use links to sister projects.

Placement

The template may be placed anywhere, such as the External links section, the beginning of the article, or in the article's etymology section if one exists. It may also be placed inline.

On disambiguation pages, place this template at the TOP of the page (on the first line of the edit screen). This is in accord with MOS:WTLINK.

This template may be floated to the left by use of |position=left. The default and usually recommended position is to the right.

Parameters

This template has six parameters, four positional and two named:

  • |1= the language code for a Wiktionary, e.g. de for German, es for Spanish, etc. Optional; defaults to fr.
  • |2= the wiktionary page to link to. If absent, takes the pagename of the article where it is transcluded (only appropriate for cognates).
  • |3= the link text to display instead of instead of displaying 2 (i.e., pipe text). Optional.
  • |4= text to append; e.g., '(in Portuguese)'. Optional.
  • |position= may be set to left; see {{side box#Parameters}} for more info. Optional; default: right-floated.
  • |context= Use paragraph, section, table, etc. to substitute into the expression "this article". Optional; default: "article".

  • If neither 2 nor 3 are specified, the article pagename will be used.
