Listing New Hampshire as the 1930 New England Conference champion is dubious, per content in the 1932 edition of The Granite, the University of New Hampshire's annual college yearbook. In recounting the 1930 season, the following two statements are made:
New Hampshire has completed another football season which will go down as a red letter one, in spite of the fact that she lost the mythical championship of the so-called New England conference.
The next Saturday, November 15, New Hampshire traveled to Springfield to fight for the championship of the New England Conference. Cowell's lads fought hard and well, but the gun found the Y. M. C. A. Club in the lead, the score being 26-7.
The first segment, referring to the conference championship as "mythical", is consistent with later statements made when the Yankee Conference was formed, indicating that its predecessor (the New England Conference) did not recognize conference championships. The second segment implies that Springfield was (at least in 1930) also a member of the New England Conference, as its win over New Hampshire denied the Wildcats of the mythical conference title. More research is needed in this area, but denoting champions in New England Conference standings templates is tenuous as best. If anyone has clear sourcing of the New England Conference itself recognizing/awarding/recording conference champions, I'd love to see it. Thanks. Dmoore5556 (talk) 00:52, 30 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
