Should this include rotorcraft ?
editIn the template title "Aircraft" is piped to Fixed wing aircraft which raises the question of which it should be ? i.e. should it be "Aircraft" and include rotorcraft-specific components (e.g. Tail rotor) and the pipe be removed (my preference) ? or should the title be changed to refer to "fixed-wing" ? or is there a good reason for a pipe here ? - It's a good point. I created the template and I think my intention was to create another one for rotorcraft (also realising that helis are also 'aircraft'). That could still be done. The template was created from the more relevant articles in the category of aircraft components, there is not a helicopter component category so that's probably why it didn't happen. I could look at it but I don't think we have many heli component or system articles (it might be helpful to list them here or create a new category). - A separate template for rotorcraft would duplicate a lot of this template as many of the components either are (e.g. most avionics) or conceivably could be (e.g. drop tank) used by helicopters. Given that the template is just one of many ways of navigating between articles I'd prefer the easier option of adding the obvious rotorcraft components to this template. That also avoids having an ugly title such as "Fixed-wing aircraft systems and components". DexDor (talk) 22:10, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- There are a lot of things here that don't apply to rotorcraft, if we add links to all related rotorcraft articles then it would be much longer than it is already is. Let's give time for others to comment/suggest. Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 22:31, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

this should probably include engines
editseems like an oversight BonzoESC (talk) 00:51, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
- This navbox is quite large so we have Template:Aircraft gas turbine engine components and Template:Aircraft piston engine components. Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 05:11, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
Defensive and offensive systems
editThis navbox should also point to defense and offensive systems like Electronic countermeasures systems and Electronic warfare systems. What about various other EW sensors, for reconnaissance and such? — TadgStirkland401 (TadgTalk) 17:37, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
