Ireland chart archives OCC
Hello @Muhandes:, @Richard3120: and @Ss112:, the OCC is now archiving the Irish charts as found here Irish Albums, Irish Singles as well as Compilation and Video charts. Can the album chart template be updated to reflect all of them since Chart-track no longer provides archives from 2017 onwards? —IB [ Poke ] 03:26, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
- @IndianBio: I think we should definitely create an Ireland entry to use the OCC's website in the album chart template, but when irish-charts.com's archive updates, I usually just use the Ireland2 entry for albums anyway. Also, it's still a bit disappointing to me that the OCC only publishes the top 50 of the Irish singles and albums, while irma.ie publishes the full 100. Ss112 03:32, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
- Maybe Muhandes can create the entry, and as for the top-50 it might just be a licensing issue, like how ARIA only allows the top 50 to be published in Hung medien. —IB [ Poke ] 03:38, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, we should definitely create an "Ireland3" entry, it's always useful to have as many reliable alternatives to choose from as possible.
- By the way, is it just me, or have the links to the OCC website still not been fixed? Rather than go directly to an artist page to see all their chart entries, it goes to a search page for that artist's name - I think it's something to do with the name being split by dashes rather than spaces. Richard3120 (talk) 13:16, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Richard3120:, @IndianBio:, @Ss112: It's the first time I edit this template, so I'd rather check that I get it right, is this what you had in mind? The date will need to be stated in the YYYYMMDD format :

- @Muhandes: again, looks fine! —IB [ Poke ] 13:59, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, looks great, thank you Muhandes for your work. As an aside, I think Chart Track only updates its archives once the year is completed, so regarding IndianBio's comment at the start of this thread, I think we may see Irish chart archives for 2018 appear on its website in January 2019.
- There are still some issues to be resolved, mostly regarding UK and German chart parameters, but it would be better to work through them one at a time – I'm going to post something on the talk page for {{Single chart}} to start. Richard3120 (talk) 15:40, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Richard3120: the last update in Chart-track was for a December 29, 2016 chart. They have not yet updated for 2017 entries, and I specifically remember they used to update weekly. So don't think we will see post Dec 2016 entries anytime soon. —IB [ Poke ] 02:15, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

Hung Medien updates
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
The Hung Medien entries (with the exception of irish-charts.com and swiss-charts.com) now use HTTPS. Additionally, the New Zealand entry has changed from charts.org.nz to charts.nz. Could someone like Muhandes or SMcCandlish implement the changes? Will do the same for {{Single chart}}. Thanks. snapsnap (talk) 18:10, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
- I've done them all in
{{Album chart}}
, and did the NZ fix in{{Single chart}}
, but that one is missing Hung Medien as publisher, so it's too much hassle for me to track down all of them in that template right now. The publisher should be added and the https fixed in one edit, but I have other stuff on my plate right now (off-site). — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 19:00, 31 July 2018 (UTC)- @SMcCandlish: Thanks. Aside from the HTTPS fix, the "www" bit has also been removed from the Hung Medien links. I made all the changes in this sandbox edit, so you just have to copy-and-paste it. And here's the sandbox edit with the changes for
{{Single chart}}
. I wasn't sure about adding "Hung Medien" to the singles template without starting a discussion before. While we're at it, isn't there any way to lower the protection levels of both templates? snapsnap (talk) 19:35, 31 July 2018 (UTC)- @SnapSnap: Done. However, please remember to always start with a fresh copy of the current template code before sandboxing; I had to re-integrate material that existed in the then-current template into the material you sandboxed into old material in the sandbox. PS: Are you certain about the changes to rest of the dutchcharts.nl URL format? As for reducing template protection, no that wouldn't happen, since the templates are used on tens of thousands of pages. A single vandal edit could mess up a tremendous number of articles. If you plan to work on these a lot, and feel competent to do it directly and correctly, try applying for Wikipedia:Template editor permissions. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 20:19, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
- @SMcCandlish: My bad, I hadn't realized the content in the sandbox wasn't up-to-date. I'll be careful next time. Yes, I'm certain about the changes to the dutchcharts.nl entries. By the way, I seem to have forgotten to change the main Netherlands entry (from "http://www.dutchcharts.nl" to "https://dutchcharts.nl") in the album chart template – if you could make this last fix for me. snapsnap (talk) 21:11, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
- Content in sandboxes is usually not ever up to date. There isn't a bot that copies it over, or anything, it's just whatever was in there the last time someone messed with the 'box – often failed experiments people abandoned! LOL. I fixed the missed https. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 21:20, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
- @SMcCandlish: Got it. Thanks! Would you mind removing the "www." bit from the dutch.nl URL, though? Not to sound nitpicky, just for the sake of consistency. snapsnap (talk) 21:29, 31 July 2018 (UTC)

Danish charts, OCC charts and other changes
I was wondering if someone (namely Muhandes) could implement the following changes:
- Changing "danishcharts.com" to "danishcharts.dk" in the album chart template (as was done in the single template)
- Adding secure URLs (https) to all officialcharts.com entries in both the album and single templates
- Crossing out both
Germany2
andGermany3
in the {{album chart}} template documentation and adding a note that both entries are now obsolete - I also suggest adding a note to both {{album chart}} and {{single chart}} stating that the Irish chart archives on chart-track.co.uk range from 2000 to 2016
Thanks in advance. snapsnap (talk) 05:56, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
- Done × 4. For future reference, I don't think the the documentation page is protected, so you don't need a template editor to edit it. --Muhandes (talk) 17:10, 24 November 2018 (UTC)

European Top 100 Albums archive
I'm looking for archive of these two albums by Basshunter. I have checked archived versions of Billboard page but found only dates and number of weeks on chart. URL's has changed over the years and I have probably checked all these versions by search Basshunter artist page, albums page and bookmarks. I tried to get full top 100 but its limited to first 50 positions. Somehow these peak positions appeard on Billboard site probably in 2013 or 2014 (it means peak positios of European chart back 3 years after this chart was discontinued). Eurohunter (talk) 17:16, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
- LOL <(^^,)> #82 charted 2 weeks in total, September 23 2006.
- Bass Generation #58 charted 2 weeks in total, October 17 2009.
- This post previously been posted here. Eurohunter (talk) 15:02, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
Musicline.de (Germany)
The Musicline website has been redesigned, and they have completely abandoned their charts archive. This means we need to replace a good load of dead links produced by the template. If we're lucky, the Internet Archive Bot will find some old versions, but I guess most of this has to be done manually. De728631 (talk) 08:29, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- Do you mean peak positions? Why use MusicLine? Charts are avaiable at Offizielle Deutsche Charts (MusicLine redirects there). Eurohunter (talk) 10:43, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- De728631, Eurohunter: yes, we are aware that Musicline no longer have charts on their website. I am in the process of migrating the dead links over to the Offizielle charts website, but it's a long process – there were over 2000 songs that need changing, and no idea how many albums. Eurohunter – we are talking about old articles that used Musicline in the past, not new articles... all the old articles need to be changed over. Richard3120 (talk) 14:48, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- What Richard wrote. We need to change existing references that are still using Musicline as their source, but this is going to be a long process. At least I can't figure out how a bot could be used here. De728631 (talk) 20:05, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

To page watchers: I've set up a script to archive links on Wikipedia:Record charts/List every week. Please add more links in the same format to that page if they need to be archived and can be archived by the Wayback Machine. Thanks, Jc86035 (talk) 18:19, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
Formatting error
Muhandes or other editors more intelligent than me... I'm having a problem formatting the charts for the two live albums by Lara Fabian, which are listed as "Live [1999]" and "Live [2002]" in the Hung Medien database... the square brackets interfere with the template markup if I just enter the album
parameter in this format, and I'm not sure how to get round it. See Live (Lara Fabian album) and Live 2002 (Lara Fabian album). Richard3120 (talk) 18:47, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Richard3120: I really don't like the way this template does not allow for supplying a url or a title, so you can't have both. I used the url notation, which does not look so good but works. Maybe when I find time to rewrite this template from scratch some time in the next decade... --Muhandes (talk) 18:12, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks Muhandes... maybe it's not perfect, but it's sorted, and it's not an urgent fix. Richard3120 (talk) 18:55, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
Muhandes I have a similar issue with the Swedish chart placing at The 12" Album article – does this require an URL notation as well? I'm guessing it's the quotation marks in the album's title that are causing the problem. Richard3120 (talk) 16:15, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

- Muhandes, I see a few options. (1) I put some additional urlencoding in the sandbox version of this template if you want to try that (may require a bunch more transformations to get it right), (2) we could add urldecoding to the display title to change things like %22 to " (could potentially incorrectly transform text, but I don't know). (3) add the option for say
|albumencode=
and|artistencode=
for overriding the encoded URL for special cases. Frietjes (talk) 14:07, 2 June 2019 (UTC)

GFK Chart Track removal as of July 31 2019
As mentioned on the single chart template, GFK Chart Track will be shut down as of july 31st of this year. This will effect the irish charts by this template. However, "Shutdown of the website will not affect any other service provided by GfK Entertainment." I'm currently working on archiving all weeks that are missing from archive.org before the deadline. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 02:32, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Billboard artist search chart archives gone
Editors may have noticed that over the last few days Billboard's chart archive search by artist has disappeared. This is troublesome, as it's this search function that this template uses for Billboard charts, which means that none of the album articles that use the {{album chart}} template for Billboard charts work at present. There's a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Record charts#Billboard online archives gone? which editors may want to contribute to. Thank you. Richard3120 (talk) 14:01, 22 July 2019 (UTC)

- @Jordan8396.ja: The sandbox seems to have been contaminated with a previous edit so it cannot be used as is. In the future, after making sure that the sandbox is not needed, sync it with the main version before making your own edits. Cleaning this up will take time, so either you can sync and redo the edits, or you can wait until I find time to do the cleanup. --Muhandes (talk) 14:40, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

- Not done: please make your requested changes to the template's sandbox first; see WP:TESTCASES.
- That was around the time when Billboard renamed/renumbered their charts, and there was a mismatch between the old and new identifiers. There was a discussion at Template talk:BillboardChartNum#New Billboard artist chart page URLs. It may also have affected {{Single chart}}.
- In any case I'd want to see the change sandboxed and proven with testcases to show the addresses generated were valid before making a live change for this request. Cabayi (talk) 09:07, 20 September 2019 (UTC)

New zealand chart
Hi there. The new zealand chart link has changed from charts.org.nz to charts.nz. This effects 5000+ links (songs+albums). --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 19:26, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
- @MrLinkinPark333: The template already uses charts.nz, right? --Muhandes (talk) 15:19, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Muhandes: Yes. But as you can see in the above search result, there are 5000+ usages of charts.org.nz. I don't think the template would need a change, but thought I should note this. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:56, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
- @MrLinkinPark333: I'll see it I can run a bot to fix this. I assume this is just a change of the web address, the structure of the website remained the same. --Muhandes (talk) 10:35, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- No worries then, if it's a quick change then. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 20:58, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

- @MrLinkinPark333: I'll see it I can run a bot to fix this. I assume this is just a change of the web address, the structure of the website remained the same. --Muhandes (talk) 10:35, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Muhandes: Yes. But as you can see in the above search result, there are 5000+ usages of charts.org.nz. I don't think the template would need a change, but thought I should note this. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:56, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Billboard chart url
The urls for Billboard chart appear to have changed, for example the old Billboard 200 url takes you to the Hot 100. The new url for Billboard 200 ends in TLP. The changes seem to affect all the urls, the chart names have all been given three-letter identifiers. Hzh (talk) 00:06, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Hzh: yes, we are aware of this – there's been a lengthy discussion at Wikipedia talk:Record charts#Billboard online archives gone? about this, because for a while access disappeared completely. It's still not clear whether Billboard intends to put most of their specialist charts behind a paywall, as happened for several days. As the URLs have changed more than once in the last month, I think we're holding off making wholesale changes until we're absolutely sure what the final outcome will be. Richard3120 (talk) 01:15, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks. I thought it was a different issue previously (pages disappearing), but it seems Billboard is still tweaking their website, so I guess it's best to wait and see. Hzh (talk) 01:25, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Quick question
Is it appropriate to use iTunes charts? I found this site. Cognissonance (talk) 04:53, 2 November 2019 (UTC)

Official Charts Company (UK) URLs need to be updated
I am finding that the URLs that this template currently generates are either leading to search results for an artist (rather than specific pages for the artist) or are redirecting to a landing page for the various UK charts. I don't know the specifics of the OCC website, but I know that this template needs to be updated to accommodate the new URL structure of the website. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 04:44, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Y2kcrazyjoker4: Can you please be more specific? I am not aware of a change in the OCC website, so maybe an example of something which used to work and now doesn't? --Muhandes (talk) 17:26, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Muhandes: I think the editor is talking about something I've mentioned before during Template talk:Album chart/Archive 2#Ireland chart archives OCC, where clicking on the citation directs you to a "search results page" with the artist's name on it, rather than directly to the artist's page. But perhaps Y2kcrazyjoker4 can confirm that this is what they meant. Richard3120 (talk) 18:28, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, that is one of the problems I was alluding to - the other is a non-issue and a misunderstanding on my part. But yes, the search results page was not what I was expecting to be linked to. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 02:33, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Y2kcrazyjoker4 and Richard3120: the only solution I see, which is what we have in {{Single chart}}, is to use
artistid
which needs to be manually entered for each and every reference. Is that what you are looking for? --Muhandes (talk) 12:33, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Y2kcrazyjoker4 and Richard3120: the only solution I see, which is what we have in {{Single chart}}, is to use
- Yeah, basically we would need the portion of the URL that is a numerical ID and the artist's name formatted for the URL to be part of this parameter. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 18:59, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Y2kcrazyjoker4: but you or any other editor would have to enter that ID manually for every single song or album by every artist that has charted on the UK charts. Are you OK with that? Richard3120 (talk) 20:57, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Y2kcrazyjoker4 and Richard3120: I can make it work the same way it works for
{{Single chart|UKsinglesbyname}}
, where if you state|artistid=
it uses it, and if not, it will remain as it is now, that is, mostly go to the search. Would that be useful? --Muhandes (talk) 09:52, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

Albumchart usages
Hello. I was wondering if a category for album chart usages could be made like how the single chart usages is done. Therefore, it could be determined how much cleanup is needed (i.e. with the UK chartarchive/chartstats and Germany Musicline websites). Thanks! --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 03:11, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Album chart cleanup
Hello. Bases on Category:Album_chart_usages there is a bit of cleanup with some templates:
- 1) I cleaned out Album chart usages for UKChartStats and replaced them with UK. There was one that was above 100+ Alvvays (album) that I replaced with UKZobble template.
- 2) Speaking of Zobble, there is a template for Zobbel and Zobble. Zobbel is the right template, so I'm wondering if this should be condensed into one template and delete the other one.
- 3) Ireland needs to be moved over to Ireland2 / Ireland3 based on chart year. However, there is also Classical, Compilation and Independent Albums and these aren't are irish-charts I think.
- 4) Germany, Germany2 and Germany3 need to be moved over to Germany4. The officialcharts.de ones are half the size of the musicline.de ones (500+ vs. 1000+).
I was wondering if anyone wanted to help with the cleanup. Thanks! --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 04:32, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- @MrLinkinPark333: I removed the options for UKChartStats and UKZobble. I'm still doing the single chart cleanups or I'd join. --Muhandes (talk) 22:09, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Muhandes: No worries. I know there's still a boat load of germany ones to fix. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 23:50, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
Billboard charts url update
Hello. I was wondering if the Billboard URLs can be updated for Albumchart as they have been for Singlechart. Primiarilly, I'm looking for the Billboard 200 to be updated as per this link, but the rest should be as well. Thanks! --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 02:59, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
Canada charts
Hello. I've been going through the cleanup of ones that are tagged "Canada requires value for chartid=". Out of 30, nine of them needed to be moved to Billboard Canada (i.e. The Chronicles of Life and Death). I'll check the other ones that came during RPM's publication, but I ran into a problem. I've found three albums where they came after 2000 and don't exist on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. They are Cardiology (album), Eye to the Telescope and Stronger with Each Tear. They should exist in a link like this, but don't. I also found Hard II Love has two Canada charts with the #20 position correct, but not sure where the #16 is from. Should I delete the ones that aren't verified? Thanks! --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 19:18, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
Croatia
Seems like website for Croatia has been deleted. some stuff is still findable through web archive, tho. Thought i'd let you know Kleool (talk) 19:46, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- based on this website https://hdu.hr/top-lista-prodaje/ , there is now a new sales chart (http://www.top-lista.hr/), which is divided into domestic/international (for weekly charts) and vinyl (monthly).
- for international albums the link is currently http://www.top-lista.hr/www/lista-prodaje-strano-51-tjedan-2019/ , where the "51" is week of year and "2019" the year. by changing these parameters, you can access "older" chart (i couldn't find button to do this otherwise). This chart starts as of 16th week of 2018 Kleool (talk) 12:48, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
US Music Videos
Hello. I think this chart is now available in the main Billboard website as the Billboard.biz ones don't work. For example: this link would be equivalent to this one. This chart is also at the artist chart here, and bypasses the locked weekly charts. I think this is the same chart, but not 100% sure as the template says Music Videos, while billboard says Music Video Sales. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 23:12, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

Update to Billboard URLs
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
Looking to have the Billboard charts updated since they changed their URL format again. Was requested above by MrLinkinPark333 but nothing came of it so... submitting a new request. The suffix to all the URLs need to changed from the chart name (i.e. billboard-200) to the three-letter code Billboard has assigned it (i.e. TLP). I will list the ones I am aware of below:
- Billboard 200 (Billboard200): TLP
- Billboard Canadian Albums Chart (BillboardCanada): CNA
- Top Album Sales (BillboardAlbumSales): TSL
- Top Vinyl Albums (BillboardVinyl): VNL
- Independent Albums (BillboardIndependent): IND
- Heatseekers Albums (BillboardHeatseekers): TLN
- Top Country Albums (BillboardCountry): CLP
- Top Dance/Electronic Albums (BillboardDanceElectronic): ELP
- Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (BillboardRandBHipHop): BLP
- Top R&B Albums (BillboardRandB): RBL
- Top Rap Albums (BillboardRap): RLP
- Top Rock Albums (BillboardRock): RCK
- Top Alternative Albums (BillboardAlternative): ALT
- Top Hard Rock Albums (BillboardHardRock): MTL
- Top Americana/Folk Albums (BillboardFolk): FLK
- Top Holiday Albums (BillboardHoliday): XML
- Christian Albums (BillboardChristian): ILL
- Top Latin Albums (BillboardLatin): LCM
Thanks! Songsteel (talk) 22:21, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
- Songsteel, oh thought this was already done. Will do it now. Thanks for finding the ids for me! ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 22:25, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
- Done I've dealt with all of the links to the chart history page and 34 of the 35 was just a simple URL change. The last one, Billboard Digital Albums was not in the chart history, at least not consistently. I therefore marked it as dead for now until it can be fixed. ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 23:09, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
Slovakia albums

Australian charts on Record Charts
Hello. I was wondering why Australian-charts is on the Websites to avoid section on Record Charts. The section says the charts from the Kent Music Report are missing, but I don't see why not to use the ARIA charts (26 June 1988) onwards. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 23:39, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
- You have a point... I mean, we use this website in the Template:Single chart template, so it seems a bit odd to exclude it. Unless someone can give us a good reason, perhaps it can be moved to WP:GOODCHARTS but with a note saying it can only be used from 1988 onwards. Richard3120 (talk) 00:07, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, and we have the Kent book for single chart, so it's not too much of a loss. And considering it's already there in the Good charts already... So that entry for Australia might need to be updated for the comments part. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:24, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- @MrLinkinPark333: I talked to the editor who originally added the website to the "websites to avoid" section, and he agreed that it was perhaps too extreme and had no objections to its removal, so I've removed it from that section. Richard3120 (talk) 19:55, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Japan (Oricon) - fix album chart (prior to July 2015) and add option for music DVDs
The Oricon site apparently no longer has its albums charts archived by date prior to the 2nd week of July 2015, so using the template generates a bad URL that just redirects to the main site. However, their website does have dedicated pages for individual releases with any applicable charting information. As a result, this template should be updated for Oricon to accommodate charting entries prior to July 2015 - we can add "artistid" and "id" parameters for the URL of the album, and "artist" and "album" name parameters for the link text. Additionally, since music DVDs and Blu-rays are among the releases with charting information available on their individual pages on the Oricon site, we can update this template to allow for DVD charting entries to be generated for Japan (here is one example). Can someone make the necessary updates? Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 13:57, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- That sounds like a good idea to me – I've always had a problem verifying Oricon chart positions because I can't read Japanese (there are entries for later singles and albums by Pink Lady, for example, which I don't think are notable, unlike their earlier hits). But if the link goes directly to the artist's page, then I know I'd be looking in the right place, and I can see the number signifying chart positions. Richard3120 (talk) 14:56, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
Italian music video chart has new URL
The template is currently generating dead URLs for the "ItalyMV" chart.

- NEW URL FORMAT: https://www.fimi.it/top-of-the-music/classifiche.kl#/charts/4/2006/39
The new format would require the "id" parameter to be replaced with a "year" and "week" parameter. Could someone make this update? Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 23:19, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and made the necessary edits in the sandbox. This version of the template sandbox has a functional update to ItalyMV. This version of the template sandbox is a follow-up edit in which I have attempted to update the hyperlink text that shows in the reference. I added two parameters (startdate and enddate) so the beginning and end of the charting period could be displayed in the reference text. However, when I define values for those two new parameters with the sandbox copy of the template, during an edit preview I see "Warning: Page using Template:Album chart with unknown parameter "enddate" (this message is shown only in preview)." to the list. --Muhandes (talk) 08:22, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

- The aforementioned addition of the Latin Rhythm Albums Billboard chart
- The addition of contingency for both Belgian DVD charts to use an archived version of the chart for a specific date, instead of the DVD's individual page (in the case of a DVD title including a special character that cannot be converted to a URL) Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 12:55, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Some Billboard chart links are dead.
I have noticed that Billboard seems to be cleaning out bands that haven't charted in quite some time. As a result, when you try to look at their chart history, all you get is Billboard's link not available message. Here are some examples, [1][2]. To prove that those bands did chart, [3][4] What if the editor could either manually type in an archive url or type in an archive date automatically generate an archive-url for the ciation. Lazman321 (talk • contribs) 12:55, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- Wherever possible, I would replace web citations for Billboard (since its been a notably unstable site) with print citations. World Radio History has nearly every issue of Billboard magazine archived. Perhaps we could incorporate a way to cite those issues into the Billboard chart templates. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 17:47, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- The problem is that World Radio History (formerly American Radio History) is still just one radio enthusiast's personal website... there is every possibility that the site will disappear one day, either due to lack of funds or the owner passing away, and I'm not sure that it's possible to create archive copies of the PDF files on there. I would prefer editors to fully cite the issue and page number along with linking to the site. Richard3120 (talk) 22:17, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- This wasn't my issue. My issue is that the Artist History charts themselves are disappearing. I can cite Billboard articles that have been archived by websites like World Radio History, Google Books, and The Internet Archive. This isn't an issue since they are used for facts about a song or artist, not charting. The problem is that the Billboard charts for certain artists are disappearing and there is no way to add an archive URL pointing to the Wayback Machine to the chart citations when using the template. Whoever has template editor rights, please edit this template to include the parameter, archive-url. Lazman321 (talk) 16:57, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
Sweden
I just opened a thread at Template talk:Single chart#Sweden concerning a combined album/singles search feature of the official Swedish charts website. To keep it central, please feel free to join the discussion over there. De728631 (talk) 09:17, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
Spanish charts
I would like to know if someone could to create a new template with the best positions of singles and albums at Spanish charts, please? The charts in Hung Medien (spanishcharts.com) are not updated since March. Thanks in advance. LuanCampSouza93 (talk) 19:52, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- Would the alternative be to use the promusicae.es website itself? Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 20:03, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, of course. LuanCampSouza93 (talk) 20:51, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- The PROMUSICAE charts use PDF files... I'm not sure how easy those are to code in a template. Richard3120 (talk) 22:31, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- Wouldn't we just hyperlink to the PDF file the same way we would hyperlink to a web page? Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 23:25, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- I believe that's possible, because the Spanish certifications already work of this way, and it's the same thing, for example, for the Portuguese certifications, that's available only in the country charts, and it's also in PDF files.LuanCampSouza93 (talk) 01:27, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- That's fine then, that was my only concern... I'd have no objections to using the PROMUSICAE website otherwise. Richard3120 (talk) 01:40, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Would the best approach be to create a "Spain2" variant since it would be for a completely different source? It might be the cleanest way to avoid impacting all existing uses of the template for Spanish charting. Otherwise, you might need to require the "recent" parameter to be filled in to indicate whether the spanishcharts.com website gets used or the PROMUSICAE.es website gets used. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 16:42, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Of course. It works of this way for German and Irish charts templates, for example.LuanCampSouza93 (talk) 23:33, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- I created a "Spain2" in the sandbox of this template for album charting. Please test it out and ensure it is working properly. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talk • contributions) 21:36, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Oricon
Hello! would it be possible to create a template as Template:Single chart Oricon2, but for albums?(url making rules are identical) As fairly recently (in the last 2-3 years?) oricon announced that they will upkeep weekly charts only for the last (rolling) 5 years (e.g., pre-2016 charts are already unavilable). But for albums/singles which have product pages on oricon (many import albums/singles tend to not have those, but many do) have peaks on their product pages. Thank you! Kleool (talk) 18:03, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- We should archive those pages then, using the Wayback Machine or similar. Richard3120 (talk) 21:18, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
IFPI Taiwan charts
Anyone interested in the IFPI Taiwan charts? They were short-lived, running from 1996 to 1999, but they are fully archived. 1996 1997 1998 1999. I just encountered them while creating Recording Industry Foundation in Taiwan (RIT) --Muhandes (talk) 15:12, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
Some questions
- Is there a particular reason "Oricon Top 50 Albums chart" was put as the title/translated title of the chart? It's just Weekly Album chart. There are no numbers in the name (not in the orig kanji or even when the page is translated). Even though only the top 50 are available for free viewing, the chart is a top 300 ranking. Entries 51–300 are just subscription locked.
- Would it be possible to have the option to turn wikilinks on/off in the chart templates for the publisher/work parameters? Some charts display wikilinked (e.g. Billboard) and others are not (e.g. Hung Medien). I've seen FAC reviewers/coordinators tell editors to replace the templates altogether+do chart citations manually instead so that consistency w wikilinking across all refs can be maintained, though consistency applies to all articles and not just FACs.
- Also, could archive-related parameters be included in the templates as well? To the best of my knowledge, I don't think any of them allow this presently. This also affects consistency. If a particular chart url dies, the template ends up having to be replaced anyways so that an archive can be added manually (I've had to do this several times in the past).
I haven't seen it, but if there are existing provisions in the documentation that address this then I apologize. I've been meaning to ask for some time now and finally got around to it. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 22:58, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- I was wondering the same with respect to archive parameters. Came across an article with dead URLs for Billboard. There is an archived version available on web archive though. --Ujwal.Xankill3r (talk) 19:17, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
lescharts.com
The content of French Hung Medien is pratically all in French language. So I think it would be interesting to specify this, as the Dutchcharts.nl is in Dutch, the austriancharts.at is in German, etc. Example: austriancharts.at - (artist) - (title) (in German). It Wouldn't be? LuanCampSouza93 (talk) 02:53, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I've noticed this as well, and I think it probably should be done, just to be consistent with the other chart websites. It should just be a simple parameter to add to the code, nothing major. Richard3120 (talk) 19:25, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Rolling Stone
Is it possible to add a Rolling Stone Top 200 chart to the template? --Sanslogique (talk) 17:06, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
- The consensus was that Rolling Stone's album chart was unreliable for use on Wikipedia - see the lengthy discussion here: Wikipedia talk:Record charts/Archive 15#Rolling Stone chart problems. Richard3120 (talk) 17:54, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
