Width

edit

Woudln't it be better if it was a bit wider? it would take less vertical space, and it will be probably located at the end of the page anyway. It will make better use of the space. Mariano(t/c) 06:52, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sure go for it if you think it will look better. Maybe change the other templates to make it consistant. Gadig 11:39, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

The 30em width was chosen from Template:Arsenal F.C. which I modified into Template:Arsenal F.C. Squad. I'm not for or against a change in width, as long as:

  • The template is narrow enough to constitute a minimum of 3 lines of players. 2 lines just looks scruffy, due to the | symbols not being aligned.
  • All templates should be changed, even the club ones. There are eight at present, to my knowledge.

I have noticed that Internet Explorer does not display the templates as I intended, so bear in mind that any changes should be compatible with IE and Firefox. I will be creating Category:Football squad templates to keep them all together.

P.S. Larger em figures may be too wide for lower resolution screens, so % measurements should be considered.

What about this? Mariano(t/c) 14:35, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Argentina Squad - 2006 FIFA World Cup

1 Abbondanzieri | 2 Ayala | 3 Sorín | 4 Coloccini | 5 Cambiasso | 6 Heinze | 7 Saviola | 8 Mascherano | 9 Crespo | 10 Riquelme | 11 Tévez | 12 Franco | 13 Scaloni | 14 Palacio | 15 Milito | 16 Aimar | 17 Cufré | 18 Rodríguez | 19 Messi | 20 Cruz | 21 Burdisso | 22 González | 23 Ustari

It's hard to include the bordered flags alongside the header and have it look good in both IE and Firefox, so I tinkered with the above version a bit. I also removed the category, which you will surely wish to re-add for the finished template. I still prefer the squarer version, but this looks okay.

The problem with the square is that it wastes a lot of space. You think I can just fix all the templates, or be happy to have the Argentine my way? Mariano(t/c) 15:24, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I refer you to my first comment on the page:

Colours

edit

The text and background colours of the banner should be:

  • Distinct
  • Complimentary i.e. no blue/red
  • Relevant to the team

Argentina play in blue and white striped shirts.

other world cups' templates

edit

Why are the '98 and '02 world cup templates being added to users pages? I've only seen this with Argentina in Sorin's page and Crespo's page but I'm sure it's common throughout the Argentinian national team players. Why? You don't see Cafu having 4 world cup templates in his profile... Yonatanh 01:43, 30 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

There really is no need for anything other than the current squad. I have proposed that 2006 World Cup squad templates be deleted at the end of the year.  SLUMGUM  yap  stalk  03:25, 30 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I will be removing the other templates from the player pages and is there a template for deletion area like afd and cfd? Yonatanh 14:44, 30 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Try TfD. You'll find the old WC templates listed there.  SLUMGUM  yap  stalk  14:48, 30 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
