I changed around the pics and templats a bit. anyone can revert if they like.

Trick for signatures: ~~<includeonly>~~</includeonly> But you must use the subst: as in {{subst:Template:ARS Welcome}}

I think the color of the ARS tagged template should be changed, to match this better. Maybe the text of the template can be on one line, instead of two.

Here are the changes to the text I made:

  • Many times we are asked to help rescue articles by people new to wikipedia. If the article is not fixable we can help explain why and offer alternatives. Encourage civility and maybe even {{welcome}} them if they have only been templated with deletion messages.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

I will look over the changes to the text later, and compare them to this. Ikip (talk) 12:20, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

ARS/Tagged

edit

I use my {{ARS/Tagged}} all the time. I think other editors will too. Lets make the ARS/Tagged not in a collapsed template. all the other text is fine...nice job ben. Good to see you back :) Ikip (talk) 16:20, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

We need to have it be a bit intuitive and I think it's ok as is. My hunch is that we should do other efforts in regards to {{ARS/Tagged}}. Two options that I think would be ok; After we have built up a good subpage of How to rescue 101 I think a project newsletter could encourage {{ARS/Tagged}} to members. Also you could be bold and post a note to members' letting them know about it. I've even see other folks be real bold and actually add such a thing saying "hope you don't mind but I've boldly added ____ to your page, feel free to revert if it doesn't work for you." -- Banjeboi 02:55, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Maybe we should allow the larger ARS community to give their input. I think it is important to have the ARS/Tagged list readily viewable and the entire list available in one click.
The first welcome template I created, the predesessor to this welcome template, the ARS/Tagged template was the center of the welcome. Ikip (talk) 12:07, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
I can't say that worked well for me. To me the bigger issue is that this is, after all, a welcome message and may or may not be permanently parked on someone's page. I would think other efforts to get it actually installed as a "permanent" fixture would make more sense. -- Banjeboi 12:52, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
RE: rv, let's see if there is any consensus to do this. This is a welcome template after all so the perpetual list doesn't need to be prominent here
I just don't see the problem with this ARS tag being outside of the template. There are only benefits in this. that is why I am opening this up to other editors opinion, because I don't see why anyone would oppose it. Ikip (talk) 03:17, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Of the opinions expressed so far we have one who wants to delete it, which is opposed by both of us and remaining disagreement on how prominently it should be displayed. Personally I feel other avenues for promoting that particular template should be sought as, this is a welcome template and not a park-this-welcome-template-permanently-on-a-user's-page template. I generally will support other NPOV ways of doing this but instead am spending time here instead of anything else. -- Banjeboi 03:32, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
