@*Treker: Are you saying that this is the sole topic pertaining to culture surrounding balls in time, space and culture? How is expecting a reader paradigm of a 20th/21st century United States-centrism helpful here? Oughtn't Wikipedia be international and aim to cover all of time in a non-discriminatory fashion? The title of the page is not "Balls in culture" it's "Ball culture", which refers to a specific thing. If you disagree with naming you should probabbly ask to have the main article moved first an foremost (with a discussion this time). The template is a reflection of main article.★Trekker (talk) 17:57, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
"Ball culture", taking WP:GLOBAL into account, refers to a very specific thing: Vienna Opera Ball etc. Despite that, however, neither the article name nor the template name is my main concerns. The article content presents the context, whereas the template doesn't really present it clearly in the same way as the article does. And so I am wondering why not the same clarity would be helpful for the template? PPEMES (talk) 18:16, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
Comment: Just like I have opposed your request to move the corresponding article, this particular template and its corresponding article is about the culture of African American SGL/LGBT who suffered racism from white drag pageantry and found it necessary to create their own balls disctinct from drag pageantry. Lumping this to a wider LGBT culture is POV and propaganda. Also, the Vienna Opera Ball has nothing to do with this particular ball. They are totally different things for obvious reasons. Doesn't you insisting on needing to point out on the talk page that "the Vienna Opera Ball has nothing to do" with this proves the origin point of opportunity for more precise language and presentation in this "ball culture" template? PPEMES (talk) 00:04, 21 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
