Should/can I put Bassin_de_St._Ferréol in place of Summit feeder on this template?GloverEpp (talk) 23:39, 6 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Here are two new aqueducts that are not correctly named and/or represented in the template: Toulouse Aqueduct and Ognon Aqueduct. That gives me a total of 10 now: Orb Aqueduct, Orbiel Aqueduct, Argent-Double Aqueduct, Cesse Aqueduct, Fresquel Aqueduct, Répudre Aqueduct, Hers Aqueduct, Ribassel Aqueduct, Toulouse Aqueduct and Ognon Aqueduct GloverEpp (talk) 20:38, 12 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

The template was sourced to the Itinerary in From Sea to Sea which is the only decent source I own however as per the misplaced La Robine we know it to be imperfect. If you have WP:RS for the additional aqueducts then you should add them in. Nancy talk 11:04, 14 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

As long as I have your attention, I would like to create something that you have been thinking about - "Structures of the Canal du Midi". It would include linking info for stuff like this:

But, I don't particularly like structures. Am leaning towards aspects or features. Any thoughts? GloverEpp (talk) 21:09, 12 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well you already know I think it is an article that should exist. I would suggest constructing it in a list format - like Locks on the Canal du Midi as there are standard elements of information required for each structure and so to accomodate it all in prose could be repetitive and ultimately unreadable. I still think Structures on the Canal du Midi is the right title and is a more encyclopaedic term than features (which just makes one think of software!). I would also propose keeping a separate Bridges on the Canal du Midi as there are so many of them that they'd swamp the article. Either way you'll find the From Sea to Sea itinerary invaluable as the basic source - let me know if your edition doesn't have it and I'll email you a scan.
You will need to make sure that you are not just duplicating the information already available in the specific structure's articles and also make sure that you include all structures, not just the ones with existing entries. You should also have a very clearlly defined inclusion criteria - personally I'd limit it to things actually on or a part of the waterway (aqueducts, outfalls, quays, basins etc) and try to avoid pulling things in just because they are near(ish) to the canal - Etang de Montady for example predates the canal by many centuries and is not really a structure (or even feature!) of the navigation.
