Latin letters
editI'm sure someone will think it strange how I spelled out some of the Latin letter names, or why I included them at all. The reason is to help disambiguate letters that look similar between Greek and Latin alphabets. This is meant to be seen at a glance and distinguished. The only other way I can think to do it would be to have separate sections for the different alphabets (and Flamsteed numbers), but that would completely break the established pattern with the other constellation templates.--Imzogelmo (talk) 04:29, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Updating this template
editShouldn't this template also include Proxima Centauri, and maybe even Przybylski's Star? I'd add it/them myself, if i wasn't at a loss as to where in the list it'd be the right place to do that... -- Jokes Free4Me (talk) 07:16, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- Also, i went through the list, and found a couple of strange names: R Centauri and Centaurus X-3 (Krzeminski's Star) - they both look like they're already using a Bayer designation, but that's not included in the appropriate column within the list. Could someone clear up their statuses? TY. -- Jokes Free4Me (talk) 07:43, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- "Centaurus X-3" is not Bayer, and neither is "R Centauri". "R Centauri" is a variable star designation, while Centaurus X-3 is the early form designations for X-ray sources. 70.24.251.208 (talk) 05:50, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- Proxima Centauri is neither a Bayer or a Flamsteed designation. However, Proxima does have a subsidiary Bayer designation... Alpha Centauri C ; Przybylski's Star doesn't seem to have a Bayer or Flamsteed designation, but it does have a variable star desgination, V816 Centauri -- 70.24.251.208 (talk) 05:54, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
I don't see why not. A comparable addition has been made to the {{Stars of Taurus}} template, which you could use as an example. The "R Centauri" is a variable star designation while the other is an X-ray source. They could be placed into an "Other" row. Regards, RJH (talk) 22:41, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the explanations, 70.24.251.208. I included the stars using RJHall's idea, and mentioned V816 and Alpha C too. I hope everyone agrees the contents is now better. :) -- Jokes Free4Me (talk) 14:48, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- It might be a good idea to have a redirect at V816 Centauri/V816 Cen -- 70.24.251.208 (talk) 04:20, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
